Bassin_Harrison Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 HI, Looking around for some information on these Daiwa Kage rods, I really like the way they look and they seem pretty quality. I'm confused why Daiwa would release another series of rods only $10 above the Tatula Elite rods, the Tat Elite rods definitely are going anywhere either since Daiwa just added like 3 more rods to the series this year. Also they look exactly like the new Tatula Bass Rods, just take away the Tat logo in the cork handle. Also on the Tat rods, the reel seat is plastic and feels really slippery and cheap; I really like the design/shape of it though, its really comfortable. On the Kage rods they have the same design for the reel seat but the material looks better- not plastic. If anybody has any information on these rods and how they differ from the new Tat Bass rods and more importantly the Tatula Elite rods please let me know. For only $10 more, I don't see how they differ besides reel seat material and the cork handle; better quality bank maybe? That's something that would make me buy it over the others. Thank You!! Quote
jtesch Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Just bought the 7’3” MH F casting rod, a little bit better guides but a really nice feel. Light and crisp. I’ve got the Tat elite with the 7’3” MH F blank and love it, very all purpose and I like the feel of the Kage more. Be a while before I fish it so we will see. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 27, 2018 Super User Posted November 27, 2018 For a mere $10 more you should buy it and give us an opinion. Quote

Good to know, I’m currently choosing between several rods and the Kage is on the list after reading your response. The others are the St. Croix Avid X, Tatula Elite, and ALX Zolo. Dobyns Champion was in there but it’s pricier than the others. Sorry I never got back to you, I didn’t get a notification of a reply on this post! Thanks for responding! Edit: another question actually, I don’t know if you’ve held the new Tatula Rods but the reel seat felt super cheap because of the plastic material it was made out of, it was very slippery as well. Does this seem like the same material on the Kage reel seat? Quote
jtesch Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Looks like the KAGE has a different handle, more of a rough texture than the new Tatula bass series. I personally love all the Daiwa rods in the $150-$200 range. The elite 7’3” all purpose might be my favorite rod and the 7’4” heavy is my go to heavy jig and frog rod. Great value for what you get Quote
