chris090981 Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 I plan on taking a trip down to Florida from Michigan next week . Rodman Reservoir seems like a good lake to possibly catch a trophy largemouth . Anyone know what the best boat launch for me would be . I got a bass boat . I’ve read some of the launches are sometimes un-launchable . Also any advise on where to go or not go .!? Was reading lots of stump fields . Any advise is greatly appreciated !!! Thanks in advance ,Chris Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted November 12, 2018 Super User Posted November 12, 2018 I can't help with launches but I will advise you to stay in the marked channels when running on plane. Great fishery with trophy bass available if you can crack the code. ? Quote
davecon Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Don’t fish there often but another web site I visit often indicates there have been problems launching at several of the ramps the last few weeks due to vegetation being blown in to the ramp. Stumps are everywhere ! Be careful where you run and DON’T do anything but idle out of the main channel, and even the main channel can be hazardous. Quote

I've heard the ramps have been having clogged with vegetation as well. You might want to have a backup plan to fish somewhere else in the area just in case. Biggest fish I've ever seen weighed in came from Rodman (12.4) and a couple over 8 were caught as well during the same tournament. It definitely produces good fish but having only been there once and not personally doing great I can't really give much advice on how to fish it. Quote
David Roger Dyess Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Trees and stumps galore. Heavy rod heavy line. Be ready and don't let then run. You'll learn quick. Always launched east of Orange Springs on thr Oklawaha River at a County park. Good concrete ramps. Short run to lake. Try the St. John's and Lake Grorge while your in the area. Only 2 stores and one restaurant in Orange Springs,Ask anyone. Quote
Elkins45 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I was there in the spring and stayed in the campground by the Dam. The ramp was fine but the channel out into the lake was so shallow at one point that my light aluminum boat was churning up mud. Doubt the storm made things any better. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted November 24, 2018 Super User Posted November 24, 2018 Most of the people that catch +8 pounders in Rodman are using live shiners aka '' indigenous swimbaits'' so you can give that a try if your goal is to catch a 8 pound or better bass. Quote
