Finally Finally Finally *pics added*

After several setbacks over the course of a couple years I finally got to pull the trigger and upgrade boats! Originally the plan was a brand new boat this spring, but kind of counted my chickens before they hatched and didn't get the job that would have allowed me the extra income to get one.  I've been searching for a couple months now and didn't find anything I liked or wanted in my price range. 

 

I found a Tracker in Kalamazoo at KVD's brother's store. The price was towards the top of my budget, it didn't have any graphs, and no cover, so there would only be money left over for a cover. So I debated for a week and as a Hail Mary I got on CL one last time and expanded my search radius a little further and said "if I don't find anything it's meant to be I get the Tracker". So I hit search scroll through and find the one! A nice G3 Eagle 175, 50 hp Yamaha, Helix 5 DI at the bow, and a Helix 7 SI G2N. The boat is in excellent condition with only a minor 3" tear in the seat. The price was below budget which is always nice, but it was in Indiana. I was able to talk him down $500 and he agreed to drive to the state line. I talked to my brother and he agreed to pick it up since he isn't too far away from the state line. He met the guy, checked the boat and outboard out (thankfully he works at a marina part time so I trust him) all was good.

 

After waiting forever today I hear from him and he's able to meet up with me. It was getting dark so I left it covered for the night, I'll post more pics Sunday. Now begins the long 5 month wait before I can even get it in the water. Oh well, time will go by fast.

Thank you sir! I'm looking forward to the next chapter too! I can finally hit the bigger water and chase after those brown bass. After catching them in a tiny  section of river and watching your brown bass adventures I'm hooked! 

 

The other nice thing is the boat is finally big enough that the three of us can fish together.

Sounds like you need to take a fishing road trip down south and get that thing out on the water.  5 months is to long!

That sounds like a good idea, but with house hunting and being put in charge of a pilot program at work I'm going to be busy this winter which SHOULD make it go by fast. But you're right 5 months is too long.

Congrats on one of the happiest days (you know in the boat world there are 2) !!  

 

I would have to move that bump board asap.  I'm clumsy enough that I could see that taking a chunk out of my shin!!

LOL yup I do know there are 2 in the boat world and I experienced both in the last couple weeks when I said adios to the old one. 

 

I picked her up Saturday night took her home. Sunday morning we went out took the cover off to inspect it, check it out, and threw the cover back on (25 degrees out). That's all I've done. This coming weekend I'm going to winterize it and store her in my neighbors pole barn for the winter. It won't be until spring before I start organizing it to my liking. Like you I'd for sure bet left with a memory from that bump board if I left it there. Good eye!

That is an awesome looking boat and those motors are always reliable from what I have seen. I would caution agaisnt buying a boat without driving it as I have been ripped off a time or two but I guess that's not an option up there

I've got the same boat, different size motor. It handles very well. I have thoroughly enjoyed mine. The biggest upgrade that forever changed my fishing was an Ultrex 80 trolling motor. It's a bit pricey but WELL worth it. Just a thought for the future since, you know, you came in UNDER budget......

Thanks! I can't wait to get it on the water. I really wish I could put an Ultrex on it. The guy I bought it from just got a 2018 Skeeter which he ordered with the Ultrex and he said it is absolutely awesome and a must have. Unfortunately I told the wife whatever I didn't spend would go in the bank with the down payment for a house. She got a car came under budget and put that in the bank, so I guess I should too?. Plus the couch isn't too comfy. ?

Well, I fished the TM that came on my boat for several years with no issues. The shallow keel on G3 boats make trolling a breeze. You'll be pleasantly surprised how shallow you can troll without running aground. And with your outboard being a 2 stroke you've got much less weight to move. You'll be fine. These boats are tough as nails.

I'm getting the itch to take it out. There's a 'chance' of a 50 degree day next week. ?

But I'm most likely just going to winterize it this weekend. ?
