Same m/mf rods but different rating?

Hi members!

 

I am shopping for a moderate fast action rod, intending to use for crankbait and possibly other moving baits.

 

I came across 2 lews custom speed stick. (LJBS and LSPS model).

 

Both are listed as Medium power, MF action. The rest of spec are as below..

 

1. LJBS : 6’7”, 1/4 - 3/4 lure, 8-14 lbs line

 

2. LSPS is 6’10”, 3/16 - 5/8 lure, 10-20 lbs line

 

I am trying to understand why the line and lure specs are so different, between seemingly similar rod, other than minor 3 inch difference in length, or is length a major influencing factor?  Or is there other design difference..? Or could it be just marketing tactic? 

 

I would think line rating and lure rating go together, but apparently thats not the case, as LJBS model has heavier lure limit, despite lower line rating. So I am puzzled...

 

Any explanation for this? I appreciate any input!
