What I want to know is where y'all are fishing with 4-5 foot lures. I don't know if I want to catch anything that big.

I removed the standard apostrophe symbol for foot from my post :) so Y'ALL don't get confused as to whether I was referring to the diving depth or length of lure ;) . But as for the OP, I think we know he is referring to a lure that will dive 4' to 5'

The Berkley Squarebull 5.5 treated me good this season. The price is just right and the fusion hooks are very sharp so no need to change them out.

I second this... I absolutely love the squarebull (now the pitbull). That bait gets bit A LOT and the fusion 19s are real deal holyfield. My next two favorite / recommendations are Yamamoto chikara crankbait and absolutely H2O express CRS crankbait (got my PB on one) which are only 3/4 bucks and come with black nickel vmc hooks

Better stock up on those Yamamoto cranks whenever you find them.  Yamamoto discontinued their hard bait line.

Already did.... Walmart got their hands on em and liquidated for $2 bucks a pop. I think I was able to get about 12

The two SquareBills I've never broken are the Storm Arashi 3 and 5 also the Cotton Cordel Big O. These two lures see the bulk of my shallow cranking duties over the past few years.

I have to agree about the Arashi durability. The only bad thing is that they don't catch me many fish. Don't know why. Maybe it's because all I have left are baby bass and wakasagi for colors. In my waters, chrome seems to be the color that does best. The Big O brings back memories. I used it years ago, then kinda fell away from it. I hear that the new ones are manufactured differently, though, and are more durable and run truer. Maybe I'll give them a try.   jj

I've never used Academy lures. Are the lips fairly durable around rocks and riprap?    jj

All I’ve used that size is the KVD 8.0 Magnum Squarebill which is 4.5 inches long.

From what I have read Acadamy H2O are no longer made/sold. They were as good as anything and cheap.

Where did you read that? They're still selling squarebills and every other type of lure.

The several Academy stores I frequent in my travels are loaded to the gills with H20 product with no discounts or signage indicative of them being discontinued.

You must not have read the whole thread. There is no good source saying they have been discontinued, and they are still listed on the site. Academy's web site is a mess and they keep messing it up with updates. Used to be a good site.

Hot dog! Now I can pay half price and crack TWICE as many! (It's a joke, people.  Not a good one, and not a funny one. Just a joke. Remember, I'm old. ??)   And yes, I found the website, and the H2O stuff is still for sale. Maybe it was a supplier glitch.    jj

I'm just guessing, but it was more likely a glitch with the people that run the website and the clueless chat CSR. If you go to their website now and click on the big button at the top that says "SHOP", it takes you to their apparel department, with no obvious way to get to the fishing department. There used to be a button at the top of the front page that allowed you to choose a department. Now it's down at the bottom of the front page. I guess they want to sell more apparel. It's probably easier to make money on that stuff.

I have not had one crack or fail on me yet. They seriously are the best looking, truest running, most durable cranks I've found under $5.
