Super User A-Jay Posted November 1, 2018 Super User Posted November 1, 2018 Day 5 was a lot like the previous 4. Swimbaits & ¾ oz underspins ruled the day. Fish were a little more scattered than in previous days. Might have even been a little deeper. But Big Fish Jeff and I would not be deterred bringing 8 score-able bass to the scales. Three over 7lbs, three over 8 lbs, one over 9lbs, and our 4th Double Digit bass of the trip at 10.14 lbs. I’m going to let you decide what to call this type of insanely good big bass fishing – I got nothing. A-Jay 7 1 Quote

This trip we timed it right - there was only 2 other anglers at the lodge this week and they came with us. Been there a few times by ourselves- it's like having your own private club which just happens to be the best bass fishing on the planet. A-Jay Quote

This is a pretty big lake isn't it? Quote

The 8 pounder I caught this july was exactly 25 , and she was really solid. That baccarac fish has to have a huge girth ! Quote

But I'm willing to bet she was almost as round as she was long. Most all the bass there are so obscenely healthy and Thick ! A-Jay Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted November 2, 2018 Super User Posted November 2, 2018 What's the primary baitfish there ? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 2, 2018 Author Super User Posted November 2, 2018 7 minutes ago, N Florida Mike said: What's the primary baitfish there ? Shad & tilapia. There is a commercial fishery on the lake and the tilapia are fed & managed in part by the Mexican government I believe. Few nights each month they net them. Doesn't seem to affect the bass fishing negatively. In fact it may be a contributing fact in the basses fast growth rate and crazy big size. A-Jay 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 4, 2018 Global Moderator Posted November 4, 2018 Interesting to note that it seems all of your DD's were caught during the hotter times of the day? That was the case both times I've been as well. 1 Quote

But you just never know down there. Any cast could be The One. Someone got another 12.12lb fish again yesterday. Sick ! A-Jay 1 Quote
