C-rigging a Frog

Saw someone on a different site mention C-rigging a hollow body frog, but they didn't go in to any detail on it.

 

After googling it, I found a video of someone catching a decent bass while dragging a frog with what was probably a 1 ounce weight in front of it.  Definitely something that never would of crossed my mind to try.  Anyone else ever try this?

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to Carolina rig about any sort of soft plastic.

 

A hollow body frog may look like it’d be diving for food?

It's going to fill with water and sink eventually, along with the fact that it won't have much action. C-rigging a toad would make much more sense to me.

Thats an outside the box approach I've never even considered..... maybe use one of the Zman Elastech frogs with two curly tail legs, they are 100% buoyant

I have a hard time hooking bass on top with a hollow body frog, yeah let's put it under water and see how it does.. 

 

I see the theory of it but there are better rigs than a c-rig, and better baits than  dragging a hollow body frog. Like bluebasser86 said maybe a toad, but not a hollow body frog for sure. Just my thoughts

I've never carolina rigged a hollow body frog, but I'm sure that it would work under the right conditions. I do C-rig toads sometimes. My favorite carolina rig baits sink ever so slowly, where they almost suspend. If they are bitting one that plops down quicker, I'm probably throwing a jig or something else.

This was my thought process as well, I feel I'm squeezing water out of my frogs every 4-5 casts when fishing them properly so I'm not sure you'd even be able to finish your retrieve without the frog getting water logged.

I'd guess the hookup ratio would be horrible on it, but I might be wrong.  Not something I plan on trying anytime soon, just curious if any of y'all had ever seen or tried something like this.

Ugh. I can't imagine why anybody would do this other than for laughs or a challenge. Just put a plastic creature bait on the c-rig instead.

 

Among other things, there would seem to be a just a basic incompatibility between the kind of slamming hookset needed for frog vs. the more sweeping kind used for a c-rig.

But, I had the same first reaction to donkey rig, jika, niko, whopper, sprinkler frogs, ned rigs, chicken rigs, rats and a dozen other things....check out the other active thread about c-rigging crankbaits....sometimes I feel old...lol

C-rig or weighted T-rig whatever you want, it's nothing new. If a frog dragged along the bottom works do it. Brush hogs worked on a C-rig or T-rig, why not a frog or toad.

Action is relative to what the bass thinks is worth eating, Senko or do nothing worms have nearly zero action and work.

Definitely something I have never heard of. If it's catching you fish, then I say keep doing it. I don't understand why you would c-rig a hollow body frog though. I thought the reason they made it hollow was to float. I'm with @Bluebasser86 on this one with the toad. It would be very different that they have never seen. Btw, how's it going guys? It's been a long time since I've been on the forums. Been real busy with school and my tournaments.
