Today I saw a new display of Carbonlite 2.0 Bait casting rods at Cabela's today ... I have not seen them first hand before and was very impressed with the feel and stated actions of the rods . The quality was quite good as well as every single rod was perfectly straight with guides that were perfectly lined up to match . For a $119 regular price - pretty nice and certainly would make me want to spend $19 more than on a Abu Garcia Veritas (or similar) . For those who have the Carbonlite 2.0 rods - what length and actions do you have and what are your thoughts and experiences with them ?

Yes I am,I have there 7 ft 6 inch spinning rod.Light, strong and sensitive. Its my go to river Smallmouth rod. Really like the Winn grips also.Looking to purchase a few more. Action is medium with a fast tip. Works great for Flukes, Craws and Twitch baits.

I bought the 7’6 Heavy/Fast to pair with my Okuma as a flipping rod. I absolutely love it. in fact, I plan on buying two combos in 6’6 MH as casting rods this spring. Last year, Bass Pro had them on discount during their Spring Sale as buy the Carbonlite 2.0 reel and get the rod for free.

I have the 7' MH/F that I picked up during the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 Rod/Reel combo deal for $119 back in February. If the sale returns next year I'll probably pick up another combo.

Nice rod. Seems well made. My only complaint is the location of the hook keeper.

The 6'6" M , MH ; 7' MH , 7'3" MH & 7'6" H would all have a application - not sure if their is a cranking rod in the Carbonlite 2.0 series ?

I have been fishing with the Carbonlites for several years now and have converted a couple of old quantum rods to the 2.0 series.    I love the rods because they are so light and the new 2.0 series are really nice with the Winn grips.  I have never broken one, or had any line inserts fall out and they have taken a beating on the Potomac grass beds.  My baitcasters are 7' and 6'6" MH fast tips and my spinning rods are 7' mediums. I think every Carbonlite I have came at an on sale price, which is usually $20 off.  Can't beat them for the price.  My grandson slammed his truck door on one he had for over two years and they just gave him a new rod, no questions.

I have a 2.0 spinning rod, 6'6" , ML with a fast tip that I use exclusively for Ned rigs.  I like it a lot.

I have a few 1.0's that get used on every trip, but the Winn Grips on the 2.0 have won me over.

I believe they went to white while still 1.0, like for the last year or so of that version.  Only reason I know is I had a pair of 1.0's that were black, one broke and they replaced it with the current 1.0 model that was white.

As an aside, it broke because i'm an idiot, but they still replaced it.

Not a fan of white rods either.  Normally I don't let colors bother me if the gear is good.  Unfortunately there are exceptions.  White rods being one of them.

i've got a 7' ml casting rod with an abu garcia alx on it, and using it for 3/16-1/4oz shakey heads. i was really surprised at how well it balances with such a light reel. i've only got to fish the rod once, but i stuck a couple of nice fish with it

*How would you rate the action / flex on the 2.0 rods ? Are they true to the listing , softer than stated or more stout ?

*Also I believe they make a moderate action 2.0 casting - anyone tried for cranking ?

I just looked and they do have a moderate. I've never seen it listed whenever I've looked before. Must be new or it's a more popular offering that's always sold out. Would be interesting to hear feedback about it.

I know how you feel. I almost passed on the BPS combo deal due to the white coloring. In the end the deal was too good to pass up and I'm OK with white now. I kind of figured if I couldn't get over the white color I could always just resell it for my cost in the end. I won't actively seek out another white rod but if the combo deal pops up again next year I'll possibly buy another.....Depending on available rods.

I apologize for this off topic post, but everyone who just can't stand the white color of their carbonlite 2.0 rods, please feel free to send them to me.  I will make sure they are well taken care of...?

Currently on sale at BPS and Cabelas for $79.97 free shipping.

Your choice of rod or reel.

I wound up ordering the 7' Med/Mod to try out. Had a free $20 samsclub gift card i used to purchase a Cabelas gift card to drop price point to acceptable deal for me. Only in it for $64 shipped so far in the end. My purchase of the Cabelas gift card also gets me another $15 e-gift card as part of my Samsclub membership deal. I'll probably just use it towards a purchase of another BPS or Cabelas gift card.

For those of you who prefer the Carbonlite 1.0 to the 2.0, it looks like the Pro Qualifier line is the Carbonlite 1.0, just rebranded and with a lower price.  I know the handles and the grips are the old Carbonlite 1.0 and it appears the specs are the same as the old 1.0

And they are black...?
