Had my whopper ploppers delivered yesterday. Decided to hit the lake and do some shore fishing in area with no surface cover to prevent the possibility of snags. I was throwing a 90 and got hit about 8ft from the bank. It was literally a baby bass the size of the plopper. Didnt get a photo as it fell off and flopped back into the water when I went to lip it. Not sure what it was thinking as not even the hook would fit in its mouth....Silly fish.

Something about that Plopper drives fish nuts. Even fish that have no way of eating something that size...

I had fingerling bass hit baits as well. As for the panfish hitting larger lures, I think panfish are fin nippers and are more likely trying to drive a fish (your bait) away than actually trying to feed on it.

Congrats!

my first plopper fish hit it right at my feet fishing from the bank one day and scared the crap out of me! I’ve caught big bass, small bass, bluegill, crappie, and perch on ploppers. Something about them just drive fish nuts.

I was skeptical the first time I used a whopper plopper.

if felt like casting a big river sinker and made so much commotion, I figured it would never catch a fish.

I was obviously wrong. Bass hammer the bait. Often times when other topwater baits don't even get a sniff.

It also tends to attract large fish. My biggest so far on a whopper plopper is 6lb. 2oz. That is also my largest on any top water bait.

I'll be throwing it more once i take my kaysk back out. Lipless on one rod, whopper plopper on the other. Of course I'll targrt the better areas of the lake as I'll bd able to retrieve the inevitable snags.

It catches bass of all sizes and I've caught several species of fish on it. Fish it with a slow, steady retrieve and they'll crush it.
