Super User Munkin Posted October 24, 2018 Super User Posted October 24, 2018 Someone wants me to duplicate some War Eagle baits for them and the only problem I have is the heads. Is there a chrome or gold powder paint that is worth a s**t. Allen Quote
cadman Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 Allen, If you are looking for chrome to look like a car bumper and gold to look like a gold chain, then forget about powder painting them and get them plated. If you don't care, as long as the gold and chrome have a gold and silver color then powder paint will do the job. Depends on how picky your friend is. Actually the fish don't really care. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 24, 2018 Global Moderator Posted October 24, 2018 There is a chrome powder paint that has a pretty shiny finish. It's not as shiny as a War Eagle head but it's pretty good, much better than the gold paint I have. Quote

Allen I bought it at either BPS or Cabela's, which is basically the same store now I guess. I keep meaning to take a picture of what it looks like on a head but haven't remembered yet. Quote
B-Dozer Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 How about nail polish? Cheap, waterproof, ez touch up if you bang it off rocks Quote

Barlows Tackle on-line catalog, paint, Pro-Tec Powder Paint #399 is chrome. No paint is a good as chrome or nickle plating used by lure mfr's. Tom Quote

There have been some chrome powder coated jigs for sale on FB that look nice. Allen Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 2, 2018 Super User Posted November 2, 2018 Barlows has good customer service, call them and ask if the chrome power coat looks like bright chrome. Tom Quote
BASS302 Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I bought some unpainted non-lead ball head jigs recently, and they weren't as shiny as chrome, but they were silver looking. I wonder if you poured some non-lead spinnerbaits if they would be good enough for what you need? The ball head jigs are advertised as Bismuth-Tin alloy. Quote
