crypt Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 well this weekend would be described as weird for me at least. first the kitchen faucet came apart in my wife hand.that wasn't so bad then the toilet in her bathroom broke at the base. then to top it all off I got the results of my biopsy and have prostate cancer. they say bad news comes in 3s. Dr. says I will be ok,but have to wait till after Christmas for surgery. so I really need to go fishing soon !!!!!! sorry for the rant but everyone on this forum is the best and hoping some of you out there can relate. Tim Kelly Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 Sounds like all three are curable, so take heart from that. Good luck with the prostate, they have some very non invasive ways of dealing with that stuff these days, so hopefully you won't be too bothered by it. 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 As my doctor tells me, all men will get prostate cancer if they live long enough. But most of us check out via heart problems. You think you had a bad day. In my club tournament this past weekend, we had one guy fall out of the boat during the tournament and a second fall out of his boat in the parking lot. Lucky for both they were not injured. We could have lost two members in one day at our tournament. All the best for successful cancer treatments. Keep us posted on your treatments and progress. 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 I have a fishing buddy who just went through the robotic surgery for prostate removal & after having to relearn how to urinate he is doing fine. Good luck with your surgery & stay positive. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 That's tough news to get. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a successful operation and speedy recovery. 1 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 @crypt I'm glad to know that the Dr. says you are going to be ok. If you feel the need to talk about what's going on with you don't hesitate. Many people on here have been through similar medical problems and can relate. My prayers are going out to you and your family for a quick recovery. 1 Quote
Fishingmickey Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 Crypt, My long time friend and fishing partner had Prostate cancer. He had the radiation treatments done and has been in remission for 5-6 years now. They have really upped the game regarding targeted radiation where they can focus the radiation directly where it is needed. You might want to look into some of the alternative treatments before resorting to surgery. Good luck and hope everything comes out well for you. Fishingmickey 1 Quote
Super User Koz Posted October 22, 2018 Super User Posted October 22, 2018 Ironic that all three things are plumbing problems ? Sorry - trying to lighten the mood here. My father went through prostate cancer years ago and everything is fine now. Godspeed. 1 Quote

Super User Boomstick Posted October 28, 2018 Super User Posted October 28, 2018 I'm sorry to hear that. Earlier this year, actually on my first day of fishing, I had a sharp pain in my side that brought me into the local emergency room (although I did make it fishing that day). It ended up being colon cancer with a 20x12cm tumor on my right side. I'm 10 chemo treatments in with 2 to go now and they say I'll have a high chance of survival. In my case, bad news comes in 4s apparently as shortly after, my refrigerator died, my dryer motor died and a drain pipe burst in the basement, leaking raw sewage all over. Anyway, for what it's worth modern cancer treatment (especially with prostate cancer) has really came a long way in the past 20 or so years. I'm rooting for you -- you got this! 1 Quote
