HeyCoach Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I have seen flukes, a Strike King Dream Shot, and a wacky rigged finesse worm used on drop shot setups. What all have you used or seen used on a DS? I’m going to give it a whirl tomorrow. Quote
CroakHunter Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 3.5 inch swimbait. 2.5 inch craw, lizzard are some of my not so main stream favorites. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 Roboworms, Senkos, and baby Brush Hogs Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 I have had some luck with little 4" Zoom lizards. They fall very very slowly and have a ton of action with just a tiny twitch of the rod. Panfish will peck them to bits though, to the point where I just give them up when it gets too bad. Quote
SWVABass Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Shad shaped worm, reins bubbling shaker, roboworms, tube, gulp minnows 4” & 5” all have done well for me depending on time of year. 1 Quote
ItsHardwick Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Lunker City Ribster, Zman trick shotz, Strike King half shell, all nose hooked. I just picked up a few more brands in this style to try out as the water cools as well. Senkos wacky rigged, anything else you would wacky rig. Swimbaits, flukes, anything really I just try and keep it on the smaller side of things. Also, the more action a bait has with very little movement is a plus in my book. Don’t limit yourself to what people tell you that you should be dropshotting with, experiment. You’d be surprised at what can be really effective. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 For the places I DS the water is ultra clear where you can see down15'+ so natural colors work best. Super soft baits in smoke or watermelon have worked best for me. While I pour most of my DS baits myself if I needed to buy some off the shelf I would look into the following: Berkley DS minnows, Roboworm, Zoom swamp crawlers, Skinny bear minnows, and some custom DS minnows. The only factory baits I use are a discontinued Berkley DS worm and Zoom swamp crawlers with about an inch torn off the head. For DS baits I think the secret is super soft baits with no salt which goes against what most factory baits are made of. Allen Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 I have also had some luck with really tiny, like crappie-sizes, unsalted tubes. I tried them as I wanted to see if I could use a DS rig to target panfish, but I caught far far more bass the three or four times I tried it. The hits were all super soft and they were most all hooked inside the mouth, like they just sucked it in while swimming by. 1 Quote
Dom Hendricks Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I’ve had the best luck with the roboworms dropshotting. In fact, that’s all I use roboworms for. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted October 19, 2018 Super User Posted October 19, 2018 You can pretty much drop shot any plastic. Heck, I even drop shotted a piece of shrimp when I was in Mexico, lol. It was the bait of choice. Quote
RyneB Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Yamamoto Shad Shape worm is by far my most successful drop shot bait. If there is a better bait out there, I havent found it. Quote
