Looking at getting another rod to pitch jigs and creature baits around grass, wood, Nd docks. Most rigs will be in the 3/8 - 5/8 oz range.

Should I get the 894 jwr or the 894fpr and why? I’m worried that the fpr rod might have a lot more backbone than I’m looking for and would act more like a punch rod.

The FPR is too much rod for your needs. It's a true flipping stick. Get the 894 JWR.

I have the glx 894c and it is exactly what your looking for! Plenty of backbone and has a great tip. Can cast a 3/8oz jig a mile and feels great.
