CJ Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Anybody using one? Are they worth it? Is it gonna find me more fish? Quote
Bud Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 CJ get with me I have a 997si and a 797si on the boat. You wont believe it. Bud Quote
skippinfool Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 OK Bud- what's the skinny with the HB SI? I am wanting to upgrade from Lowrance X-65 (blk/white) to color graphs with GPS. If I'm going to do it, thought I might as well that have one that can look out the sides as well? How does it work in stained water? Only clear water in Ohio is Lake Erie and I'm 3.5 hours away! acar555 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 It doesn't matter what the water clarity is like, gin clear or chocolate milk it will see through it. Quote

I just picked up a 797 c2 si and I wanted to mount up front but it seems like you can't. Any help would be awesome! Thanks Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 17, 2008 Super User Posted March 17, 2008 You can mount the transducer on the trolling motor, BUT your side imaging display will be distorted if you rotate the motor even a little bit and you cannot move fast enough with the trolling motor to get a good display either. The verticle beams will not be affected. Quote

The verticle beams will not be affected. I have a 997si on the console and a 797si on the trolling motor. I have mine hook together with the interlink kit and they work like they should. I do not have any problem with the TM mount if you don't whip the TM from stop to stop. My TM will move the boat plenty fast to get a good display. I know several guys who have mounted the side scan on the TM and no one has had a problem that I know of. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 17, 2008 Super User Posted March 17, 2008 Bud, what kind of image do you get when you have your trolling motor turned in any direction other than straight ahead and the boat is moving? Do you make a special effort to not have that situation when trying to get a realistic side image view with the front unit? Can you GPS mark a displayed object and return to it if the transducer is not perpendicular to the line of travel? Quote
Bud Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Wayne, the image will distorted for about 15 second after you make a hard right or left turn. If I want to look at a spot really good I line up straight ahead . I also do this if I am using the console unit. Yes you can mark a spot if the transiducer is not perpendicular but the spot will be off by a little bit. These unit take a lot of playing with to learn all of the quirks. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 18, 2008 Super User Posted March 18, 2008 Thanks Bud, the bank account may have to be depleted some more. :'( Quote
