Keep a lookout in overhanging trees, and semi submerged trees. You would be surprised at the good lures you can find. Many people won't bother trying to retrieve a snagged lure, especially if they are in a bigger bass boat.

I second this.  Used to fish exclusively from shore and found that 20lb+ braid was a very economical way to save on lures.  Lost a lot less and would use it to haul in other lost lures.   Plastics are still the most economical, curly tail grubs especially.

What’s the best braid that isn’t expensive? I will need to spool up my new reel soon.

I personally use Spiderwire stealth. You can get a 300 yard spool  for around $14 on amazon.

More Z-man baits. A package of them isn't any cheaper than a package of standard soft plastics but they last fifty times longer.

Could you send me a link?

I know folks who use KastKing braid and like it. Personally I have no experience with it. You can get 300 yards of Power Pro at academy for $20

A pack of 6" Zoom lizards has been pretty effective for me this year. They come 9 in a pack for only $2.19 plus tax at Academy. The original Z Man chatterbait also very effective. They're only $4-$5 at Academy as well. ?

Zoom and yum offer some solid values for soft plastics. Usually Bass Pro has sales, especially in the spring. Keep an eye out for end of season sales when big box stores like Walmart clear out old stock.

Keep an eye out for end of season sales/clearance. This time of year is a really good time for that. As guys turn to the woods and come off the water stores will change focus and cut inventory.

H2O uses VMC hooks. Pretty sure the lures are made by PRADCO who also make bandit, bomber, booyah, yum, heddon, etc

Fake news.

Is the OEM factory where they’re made in China not a PRADCO factory as well?  That’s just what I was told by a friend who used to work at academy. Regardless it’s not a bad product for $3

I know where the H2Os are made, I don't know where PRADCOs are made. I would imagine that the latter's manufacturing is spread out (probably by brands) to more than one factory. Some could certainly come out of the same factory as the H2Os, or one identical to it next door. I was in Guangzhou about 10 years ago, and a lot of that manufacturing capacity was being brought online. Quite impressive. And yes, H2O's are very good, productive, cost effective baits.

Honorable mention for strikerpro very productive and cheap although I haven’t used one in some years I used to buy their baits for like 3-4$ my local tackle shop and catch a lot of fish the jerkbaits specifically they put them in the mtb boxes sometimes and they are productive.

Zoom Trick Worm, less than $5 for a bag of 20 (closer to $4 when on sale, and under $4 if you game TW).  You won't find a cheaper worm that will rig any way you want, in every color imaginable, and works, anywhere.

Check out Arkies website or JMAC lures for jigs, about $1.50 each. Some northland lures are well priced. The northland reed runner spinnerbait is $3 and is quite good. We don’t throw super expensive jigs and spinnerbaits around here due to Northern Pike and Muskie. Fisherman’s Factory Outlet for anything fishing, rods/reels especially. What you have is a pretty good selection really.

Berkley's line of hard baits are hard to beat. They are great quality for their asking price. The fusion hooks they use are wicked sharp and don't need to be swapped out.

I have experience with and can recommend the:

Warpig

Skinny Cutter 110

and my personal favorite the Squarebull 5.5 ("Gilly" color)

I have to say while a whopper plopper is not cheap, it flat out catches fish and is durable. My WP 90 Bluegill color has just finished it's second year of fishing with me and has caught more fish than any pack of worms ever has for me. Looking forward to next year with it.

Best quality bang for the buck IMO is strike king and zoom

Add Booyah to that as well, they have some effective lures that are often cheaper than Strike King!

Really good thread, my advice would be to echo all the ones who said zoom and strike king.

Super effective, cheap, and reliable baits. Also, echo quality over quantity.
