Does anyone have any experience with the Trapper wide gap hooks pertaining to catch & release? I'm waiting for some to arrive and I only fish catch & release. I'll crush the barbs flat to facilitate hook removal and minimize injury to the fish. It appears that these hooks might be more difficult to remove....

They look like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Never used any Trapper hooks, but I seem to recall that hooks with a 90 degree bend were 'brittle' or at least susceptible to breaking.

Have to agree with @J Francho....I don't really see a need.  Then again, I only use barbed hooks.

I'd think the same, except that every weedless hook I use has a Z-bend, so I'm linking that's moot these days.

I got some of the trebles in a mystery box. Threw them in my box of trebles and rings but in the back of my mind I was thinking “these will never get used”.

I used the smaller drop shot hooks and *hated* them.  The funky 90 degree angle that keeps the fish from throwing the hook also keeps the hook from being removed easily, and often results in bent/broken hooks.
