Derek1 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Just curious about everyone’s opinion on them. I have 2 and I really like them. They were my first better quality rods so I really have no experience with anything else to compare. They were a huge upgrade to the types of rods I used before, I never hear anyone mention them was wondering if there was a reason. They are a $120 rod. I’m not sure if that’s upper mid level or lower upper level lol? Do you guys think they are good quality for that price, I feel they were worth it but again not much else to go by. I find them very sensitive and strong and I’m not to easy on anything I own. Long story short, I have them and like them. Curious of others experiences. I bought the medium heavy fast as a combo with the currado k for $269. That really made the rod $90. Quote
Calibassassin Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 I’ve often wondered the same thing. What others think about the rod for its price point. I have 5 that I bought on sale when I started getting back into fishing after a long hiatus. One 6’8” spinning, med/xf for lighter drop shot, shakey head, weightless worm etc. the rest are baitcasters, m/mod, m/f, my/xf, and h/f. Read good reviews and the price was right. I’ve been impressed with their performance and they are light and balanced, which I appreciate. The med/mod has good parabolic bend and the cranks movements translate well into the hands. The m/xf spinning is actually the one I’ve used the most so far. I have braid on it and all of the rest. I don’t know if I’ve just never used a decent rod or what but I swear I can feel every little tick with these rods. It amazed me the first fish I felt bite and set the hook on with these. They are strong, lite, and sensitive. The fit and finish could be better compared to some of the other rods that I’ve aquired since then, but the overall performance, weight and sensitivity for the price I paid, I feel was a great bargain. Derek1 Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 I feel the same way about maybe never using a good rod before. I feel they are very sensitive, but nothing else to compare it to so not 100% sure. I didn’t know they had all them different actions I didn’t see them good to know this winter/spring when I’m looking to add a cranking setup. Thanks, glad to you shared your experience with them. I honestly don’t remember there being a moderate action when I got mine in the beginning of August. I might just get another combo with the currado in the m/m and I’d be pretty happy I think. I feel that it’s a great quality set up for the money. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I am, no surprise now, a big Carbonlite fan and have been since they hit the market. I do now have three Carbonlite 2.0 and really like the improvement in the grips. In spite of all the bad mouthing about the rods, I have never had one fall apart, or break and believe the tidal Potomac has tested them with bass, snakeheads and cats. My Carbonlite spinning rods are all mediums in 6'6", 7' and 7'2" and my bait casters are 6'6" MH and 7' MH with two 7' mediums. Everyone came from a sale price. Very light and easy on the old wrists. 1 Quote
Boogey Man Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I have 3 of the original black ones. I’ve looked at new ones in the store but don’t own one, but wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. Great rods, especially when you catch them on sale. Quote
TheReelDeal Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I have one and I absolutely love it. They don't get as much attention as they should. I have never had one break on me and I feel that they are very light and sensitive for the price (especially when on sale) Quote
