PeterFry Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Hello All I have just joined the forum after watching the YouTube videos for a few years now. Here in the U.K we do not have LMB but we do have big Perch up to 6lb ( a fish of dreams), large Pike and Zander ( Walleye) to 20lb. I do a lot of Perch fishing using what you would call finesse LMB tactics such as small jigs and drop shot. I do come over to U.S.A for the flyfishing for the trout and also Bass fishing but there is also Black Bass in Europe which is their name for LMB and I go looking for those when I get a chance. Looking forward to hearing from fellow anglers across the pond and learning new fishing tricks Peter 4 1 Quote

PeterFry Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 Thanks You for the warm welcome. To answer Darren's question, I tend to fish baitcasters and rods between six and seven foot for the Perch. Pike and Zander call for longer and heavier gear. My best Perch is 4 lb plus, Pike 26lb and Zander around 12lb there are not many Zander in my part of the U.K as it is classed as an invasive species. I have fished in New England, Vermont and Florida for LMB and my biggest to date is about five pounds. My biggest Black Bass in Italy was about 2lb. All great fun. Peter 2 Quote

The Bassman Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Welcome. My sister and brother in law live in London. I can't imagine big walleye being considered invasive. Quote
davecon Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Welcome. My great grandfather was from Oxford, I believe. Traveled all over North America then settled in Florida. Quite a far piece from Oxford. Quote
PeterFry Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 Hi. Its a good eight hour flight from the U.K, we have been to Florida a few times and like the area around Lauderdale By The Sea. The pound to dollar exchange rate at the moment means its a bit pricey for us at the moment. Peter Quote

Have a look at Anglian Water Grafham reservoir were the next record fish will come from but VERY hard to catch. https://anglianwaterparks.co.uk/grafham-water-park/predator-fishing Peter 1 Quote
