im a fat man at 360 lbs. im trying to find a jon boat that i can deck so that me and a buddy can fish out of. problem is that all the 14 ft boats have a capacity of 3 people and like 400 lbs. even the 16 and 17 ft aluminum bass boats only have a capacity of like 480 lbs or something close to that. besides losing weight, any suggestions on what to do? thanks

22' Ranger might get it done lol

Seriously, if you're going for budget, get a 14 or 16' fiberglass ski boat. They are definatly not as expensive as fishing boats and my dad's 18' takes 1,850lbs

the grizzly's do seem nice. What about the G3's?  I was concerned as well about weight limits and being able to go w/ friends. I ended up getting a 16ft Starcraft Starfire ( aluminum)  Deep V and I love it.  I may not be able go in 6" of water but I can get into about 12" of water, i can go in some of the bigger lakes and there is plenty of room. The boat holds up to 6 people or 825 lbs and it is stable.

Good luck w/ your quest.

if your looking for small boat. I have a 14 foot stracraft V hull. It will hold up to a 35 HP and its weight cap is something in 600-700# range with a 35hp.

I run a 15 Hp merc, 2 Tm's, 2 batteries and 6 gal gas. I am 300lbs and it hadles me very easily, 2 people with no problems.

This boat will get shallow with no problem

I have a 14 ft. Fisher that I decked.  I am 6'4" and about 300 lbs.  My main fishing buddy is about 280 lbs.  We fish all the electric only lakes around here with no problems.

Alweld 1652 V-Nose Modified V bottom Tunnel Hull

Length 16'

Bottom 52

Beam 74

Total weight per cap: 4/564

Max hp 40-70* (*Higher horsepower ratings are for remote steering only.)

Xpress 1650VJ modified V bottom similar specs

The key to Jon boats is bottom width & beam, both add to stability

Just get the widest boat you can afford and atleast a 14 footer(jon). You should feel very comfortable in a tracker grizzly. Those things look tuff anyway. Wish i had that kinda money or i would be fishin in it right now! lol

I am a large frame person myself and own a 16ft alum boat that will handle 5 person limit 560.... So if I take a friend and the equipmet plus fuel I am loaded. I have thought of the option of the link below. Just some thoughts.

Other thought is got with Carolina Skiff DLV semi V, more stable than an alum boat to move around in and drafts only 4-6 inches of water. The boat can be cut in half and still float...... these boats new 2008 are much cheaper than a 20,000 plus bass boat. For there features and abilities they are my choice for my type needs.

I have had four spine surgeris and need the flat bottom to move around in and have the stability without falling over as does my aluminum boat.
