I have a jon boat and my mom now wants a pedal boat....they are on sale this week here.  only problem is, how do we trasport it? our dodge dakota is too small( the box is around 5' x 4'. ) and we have a cover on top out of truck to hard to take off for all this.

So any Ideas on how I can make something up with wood, metal or anything at all we just need a way to get it from the trailer to the water.

dimensions of the boat are 7' x 5 '

Welcome to BR, the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net!!  IF you are asking how to get the pedal boat from the truck to the water AFTER you have gotten to the launch ramp or side of the lake/pond, you might want to check out the numerous variations on small carts that kayakers use to do the same thing with the larger and more cumbersome kayaks. IF you are asking how to get a paddle boat to the water from yout house, I'd recommend a small flatbed trailer like a Red Trailer that you can buy on Ebay rather cheap (but you'll have to assemble it and that can take a couple of days). Hope this helps!!!

ok the questions is.....how can i trasport it from my camp/ trailer site to the water...it is too far to carry and it is too wide for the truck and we have a topper thing that is a pain to take off for just transporting.

and I don't want a flat bed trailer for just a pedal boat id rather spend the money and get an aluminum boat but already have a decent one..my mom just wants a pedal boat to go out at sunset relax and get some exercise.

Go to the Kayak Fishing Stuff site and do a search on CARTS!! There are many ideas on how to build your own OR go to paddleboy.com and see all the great prefabricated carts that you can buy that are specially made for what you need to do. They are a little on the expensive side, $100 - $200, but they're ready to use. I am making one of the Milwalkee Hand Truck based carts for my 10' Nu Canoe even though I probably won't even need it. Those paddle boats can be picked up and sat on a kayak cart and wheeled about anywhere you want to go. There are ALSO toploader devices that will assist you in loading a boat or kayak on to the TOP of a car/truck/camper. You may have to "improvise, adapt, overcome" (thanks to Clint Eastwood - "Heartbreak Ridge") but I think you'll be able to accomplish what you want with a little ingenuity. IF there's any other help I can render, let me know!

OK, a really inexpensive solution here. Leave it in the water. Yup, take the topper thingy off of the truck just one time to transport it to the water and then leave it there. Chain it up with a lock, maybe buy a cover for it, etc. I have one of those pedal boats and they are not that heavy. Its 100% plastic.

First off   There is a place around here that has a couple of ponds, and they rent paddle boats. They bring them out in the spring and in the wintter they take them to a storage area. He uses a flatbed trailer that he uses for his quads. I am no expert here, but i know the guy and called and asked him.

If he hasn't figured it out in 12 years then there's no hope! :)  ;)
