kbkindle Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 kb here have to replace my trolling batteries this year and was going to try the yellow case wallmart batteries it takes series size 27 batteries if a 29 series will fit the boat battery hold down is there enough difference in out put to make a difference? kb Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 13, 2008 Super User Posted March 13, 2008 kb my neighbor just had his 3rd Wal-Mart battery die in 2 years. The key ingredient in deep cycle batteries is check the RESERVE amps. The more the longer they will let you stay on the water. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 13, 2008 Super User Posted March 13, 2008 I didn't realize they sold marine batteries in the yellow case. I've always used the black case ones that sell for around $65-70. I normally get 3-4 solid years out of them. Quote
fooman Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 The EverStart Maxx 29 battery has 875 cranking amps,205 reserve ,I was thinking about picking 1 up for my 2-man for $75 Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I have the 29 series in the yellow case, and I love it. It has a 1 year warranty, so every year you can take it back and get a new one. I've found no problems with mine, they last along time on 1 charge. I have a 55# MG Quote
NBR Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I have two of the 27's because of space and they have served me well. On a cost per year I think they might be a little less than more expensive batteries but I've only one set of the more expensive ones to compare. My experience is keep the water up, charge every time you come in and they last 5 years with no problem. Quote
BillyBob Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I like the yellow 29's. I had to cut the battery tray, but so what. Best I've found, they power my MK pro82 fine all day. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 14, 2008 Super User Posted March 14, 2008 The 29 used to be yellow, but they started moving to a black case last year. I've got one yellow and one black. Both are quality batteries. FWIW, the Maxx batteries have an 18 month pro-rated warranty. Quote
altamahajon Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I just purchased one of the Walmart yellow case batteries last week with the 870 AMPS. For the amount of ampers the $75.00 was not bad. It has a one year replacement warranty when you purchase it. Suppose to be a good battery if charged properly. Quote
Super User flechero Posted March 14, 2008 Super User Posted March 14, 2008 KB, I've used the size 29 MAXX batteries for years with good luck. I did have 2 go bad in the past 6 years but both inside the free replacement period. The rest have lasted as well as any other & more expensive batteries I have used. Quote
bocabasser Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 i have 3. i return them every 4-6 months and replace with new ones free of charge. i love walmart. Quote
