I was wondering if they were the same shape as the old ones. I have a pair of old Loomis rods with the Weibe seats and with an Alphas on them it’s hands down the most comfortable reel+seat combo I have ever fished with. 1 Quote

I stated it feels like cheap plastic not he uses cheap plastic. My black widow rods reel seat looks similar but feels cheaper. I had a reel come off on a hook set first outing with the rod. The area where the back part of the reel foot gave out. Part of the plastic that is recessed to accommodate the reel gave way. I also had the tip guide insert pop out at the same time the reel seat failed. I contacted edge and they could care less. The way it locks up doesn’t feel the same to me either. I’ve used loomis rods with weibe reel seat for almost 20 years and this isn’t the same quality seat as the original. Just my thoughts. Quote
Westcoast Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I’d buy one, if they shipped to Canada. I do have one black widow edge 703c. It has a more moderate action compared to a Loomis equivalent, which isn’t really a bad thing. Casts finesse Swimbaits and small poppers like a dream. 1 Quote
CrankFate Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I would like to give these a try. I like the looks of the carbon fiber handles. But have to keep priorities straight. Had to get 2 new rods for the kids, plus they’ll need reels and am planning a summer getaway to target bass in a bigger lake. Maybe next season. Or worse. The dead of winter next year..... Quote
KP Duty Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I just want to add that as mentioned not all or actually I would say most of the edge rods labeled x-fast are not. More like fast or medium fast. 704 x-fast, 705 med-fast, 706 med-fast/fast, 786 med-fast, 787 med-fast, 806 med-fast (806 is labeled as mod). I own these rods and hope this helps if you are considering buying one. Quote
Don Hankwitz Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 I own 11 Edge Rods, seven bass and four Steelhead. I’ve placed orders four times and received the rods within the time frame they promised. Some as soon as a week. In my opinion, these are the best bass rods I’ve ever owned. Sold all my G Loomis. For a very high end rod, the price is very reasonable to say the least. Best deal I’ve found and I couldn’t be more happy with them. My guide friend says they’re the best bass rods he’s fished, and that’s saying something. 1 Quote

Your experience with them is an exception- Everyone i know that has ordered from them has had issues and most have cancelled their orders after waiting at least double the time they were told- Reaching them is impossible as they return no phone calls or emails. Check out the hundreds of complaints before you think about ordering from them.......... Quote
onenutinthewater Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Just an update since they burned me numerous times starting 2 years ago when they told me they were understaffed and still have not changed. Check out the last 2 months of complaints on their FB page. I cannot believe that anyone would order from them again..... Quote

Mikeltee Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I was offered one heck of a deal on here for one but I would have to have one in hand before I could commit to such a dramatic change in grip which is why the guy was selling it. Had I been around for the kickstarter I would have rolled the dice on a couple. That was an offer that couldn't be refused. That's too bad they cant meet demand. Sounds a little like the Exprides. At least Shimano hasn't promised anyone anything. At the place I have bought all my rods from, they have been taking pre-orders since April and shipments are due in a few weeks. I doubt they get enough to fill their pre-orders. I would love to get one some day. Quote
AmSO4 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Anybody have an Edge rod that they care to comment. I am between an Edge, Expride or something else. I want something very sensitive. I have an expride and really like it. I just don't know how it compares to the Edge. Is it one the most sensitive rods available? If not what is? Quote

Eynt Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Stay away from these guys. I really think they are a pyramid scheme. They use deep discounts to get as many orders as possible to get cash but they don't for fill most of their orders. I fell for it. After a few months, I tried to get a refund but they just ignored me. I had to pester them and complain on FB for over a month before I got my refund. There are just too many good companies out there to even consider Edge. 1 Quote
Fried Lemons Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I ordered one of their black widow rods once. It came on time but the first guide was very badly misaligned. The handle was also not flush with the reel seat. Rather than deal with customer service I got it rewrapped by a local builder. For what they were charging I was not impressed with the build quality. Chris Castle Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 HEED THE WARNINGS ON THIS THREAD AND PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Although I was able to get my money refunded within a reasonable time, it was also my experience that they will not answer the phone. I ordered a rod on November 2, 2019, and waited until the second week of February for my rod to be built and shipped. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had been had, and felt compelled to request a refund. In my opinion, this company should not be in business. Quote
Hartwood71 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 FWIW, I ordered my 733 BWC and received it within five days, contrary to all the negative feedback here. Furthermore, the fella on the phone was eager to help me work out a rod choice for my specific goal. Now, I found the rod runs stronger than the labeled specs. Not a bad thing per se, as the quality and sensitivity are definitely there, but worth considering a rod a notch lighter than usual for a specific purpose. Better yet, I found talking with them helped me rectify that so i ended up with a great rod for jerkbaits. I'm getting a second rod. 1 Quote

Out of all my rods, these are probably my favorite rods to use. The 714-1 is rated as a Medium Moderate action and compared to other rods in my arsenal, I'd probably put it somewhere between a Moderate to Fast action. Super sensitive and extremely light weight. Great for a crankbait or jerkbait rod. The 744-1 is rated as a MH rod Fast action and is about right for that rating. It also has a slightly bigger diameter on the blank. Still super light weight and can handle throwing larger baits. The carbon tex grips are really nice and doesn't get molded unlike traditional cork. Plus it doesn't get slippery when wet or if you have fish slime on your hands. Definitely really sensitive as I can feel bottom contact when using jigs or bottom contact baits. I like these so much that I plan on buying the spinning reel Delta FSS-MBR 723-1 to match with either my Stradic ci4+ or ballistic. The only cons for buying these is what everyone has been saying.... long wait times. It took me about 5-8 weeks before I got them, so expect long wait times. Though I'm sure they're ramping up now and getting their logistics in order. Also, I had one of them broken on delivery due to a bent shipping tube, but I spoke with their customer service and had a replacement sent over within 2 weeks expedited at no charge. Hi I noticed you have the Delta-FSS MBR 744-1. I was considering it for 5 to 6 inch weightless senkos and some other things. What is the tip like on it? Is it pretty traditional flex? Quote

There is a long thread on TT about recent experiences with NFC, and most are positive. On 3/12/2024 at 2:26 AM, Drop shot-1 said: Hi I noticed you have the Delta-FSS MBR 744-1. Super User Columbia Craw Posted March 13, 2024 Super User Posted March 13, 2024 Context and perspective. NFC went through a reconfiguration before the lockdown. That didn’t help anything. The firm reconfigured again and brought in a new CEO and marketing people. This took place during the lockdown. Design staff under Gary Loomis remained intact. NFC’s meat and potato’s had always been steelhead, salmon and off shore. The unforeseen increase in bass related demands during COVID created a market shift for NFC and the addition of the new technology and component design pushed demand for bass rods. NFC also experienced a huge increase in the demand for inshore models. In attempt to meet the demand, Gary Loomis more than tripled the size of the facility. They added a Pro Shop. I was told by Alex/aCEO plans to add a pro shop in a major city that is in the heart of bass and inshore. Thats what NFC is. Blanks are a huge part of the business. Finished rods get time allocations to run The various rod types and then the models. There is a certain time of the year when sales on bass rods or specific bass related models are offered . I’ve purchased stock on hand and ordered and waited 21 to 33 days for delivery and like Dwight, took advantage of a sale on a special model and it came with a wait. Part of the delay was unavailable guide sets used only on this model. Companies dissolve or evolve. Edge is a viable option for any bass angler. Bad press from the past may not accurately portray how it runs now. I have zero ties to Edge other than a customer. Drag up an old thread is fine but things change. By the way, I urged a sales rep to consider becoming a BR sponsor. Quote
