I know this has been an ongoing blog/diary thread but I couldn’t find a better area to post in so forgive me.

I’m headed to Baccarac in mid January and wanted to know which baits are go-to’s, what color/s do the fish prefer, what lb. line do you recommend and is fluoro a big advantage over mono there (I know in most Mex lakes it is not).  Thanks and I look forward to your guys’ feedback.

Congrats on your trip and having your green bass fishing ruined forever.  If you've been before you already know what I mean.  If this is your first trip, you're about to find out. (it's a good thing).

The lodge sends you an info packet (email) that has a list of things to bring including recommended tackle. Having most of that is a good idea regardless of when you go.  We use 20lb FC exclusively,  except 20lb mono for topwater.

If you look through my Baccarac report threads I always list gear and baits we use.

Good Luck and be careful,  you might get your arm broke.

Someone on another thread said they "would get tired of catching 10lb bass".

What say you?

No, not me.

But while Big Fish Jeff was repeatedly dropping 8's & 9's in the net,

I do sort of remember complaining about catching "All these 5's & 6's" !

That's pathetic in itself.

Just booked the commercial flights for October 2021.

307 days and a wake up ahead of time.

Might be a new record.

And

For Half the Price of the usual $$$.

Big Fan of all of that !

296 Days & a Wake up ~

As previously mentioned here, this trip is essentially 'booked' and ready to go;

except for one detail; two open seats.

You see, past several trips we book & pay for 4 fisherman, instead of just two.

Then we solicit for a couple of willing bassheads who want to go.

That allows us to charter, and fill all the seats, on the private aircraft that flys us straight to the lodge.  These air craft are always in high demand.

Super convenient, and gets us to the lodge early enough that we can fish an extra 1/2 day.

Win - Win right there.

As of yesterday the two 'open' seats have been filled and by a current BR forum member (and son).

It will be their first trip to this magic place and that's always an exciting deal.

One that I really love being a part of.

#bigeyes

I'm not going to spill the beans on who it is - I'll let him do that.

Decent chance he'll see this and respond.

Super pumped and it will be here before we know it !

Hi @Chris at Tech Thanks for thinking of me - really.

And while Kistler has a well earned reputation for producing a fine stick,

you know as much as anybody, that me & travel rods just do not play nice together.

#splintercity

So that's going to be a hard pass for me right there.

However, in a rather unexpected & very pleasant turn of events,

seems Big Fish Jeff and I will be using a most awesome & full spectrum selection of

Dobyns Champion Extreme HP Full Handle Casting Rods

on our next trips, that a very generous friend left there for us.

So that's pretty cool.

It's hard to describe ~

My version is it's where Jurassic Park meets Disneyland

And I know I'm fully addicted.

You should come with us . . .
