Guess it was bound to happen. Boils down to Pilot Availability for the charter plane to the lodge. Scheduled man has backed out and finding a replacement is proving to be a challenge. We're staying optimistic but it's about 50/50 right now. A-Jay So what's the problem? That still leaves you with OVER A MONTH to learn how to fly a plane. Like it's hard, or something! 3 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 13, 2020 Super User Posted September 13, 2020 If I had a plane and a pilot's license I would be glad to fly you down there for free! 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 13, 2020 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2020 As the 30 Days & a wake up point inches closer (tomorrow), the latest update is a positive one. Our no-pilot situation has been quickly rectified. The lodge owner, also a pilot and a pretty busy human, has arrange his schedule (not sure what that means exactly) in order to fly us there & back. So that's got us feeling fairly optimistic again. Hope that continues. A-Jay 4 1 Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 13, 2020 Super User Posted September 13, 2020 Glad to hear it worked out. Big Fish Jeff is a big deal, and he knows people! 1 1 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted September 19, 2020 Super User Posted September 19, 2020 You can always fly commercial to Mazatlan, and rent a car if you have to. Flying with the owner of the lodge would be faster. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 26, 2020 Author Super User Posted September 26, 2020 18 Days and a Wake Up ~ So close yet still seems so far away. Got some 'flight changes' on all of my commercial air rides this week. My layover times both tripled. Good Times. A-Jay 1 Quote
Tim Kelly Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Travelling can be a chore. Sam Adams helps. 1 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted September 26, 2020 Super User Posted September 26, 2020 The wife and I take flight quite a bit, or use to and long layovers made an otherwise very laid back person " myself " rather grumpy. Hope your richly rewarded with double digit fish. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 26, 2020 Author Super User Posted September 26, 2020 Thank You very Much Sir. While none of us would ever turn our nose up at an opportunity for a DD bass, with the way this past year has gone (for everyone), I am just looking for The Escape at this point. btw - I have never enjoyed air travel and honestly believe carry-on luggage should be outlawed. #thatsnotgonnafitintheoverhead A-Jay 3 Quote

I start fishing on the 14th , I'm arriving on the 12th spending one night in Los Mochis due to flight schedules and arriving late. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 4, 2020 Author Super User Posted October 4, 2020 Big Fish Jeff and I fly commercial to DFW on the 13th - and stay overnight. He's coming from Memphis. That allows our luggage to catch up to us if they 'send it' somewhere else. Then at first light on the 14th, we jump aboard a charter aircraft and fly directly to the lodge. Get there @ noon. After getting settled in, rigged up and stuffing down a quick lunch, (and I do mean quick!) we get in an afternoon to sunset session that day. Got 5 full days of fishing after that. 9 Days and a wake up ~ Did I mention I've been packed for 5 months . . . A-Jay 1 Quote

However it's been getting better recently. We'll certainly do what we can to keep folks up to date. Fortunately Big Fish Jeff is pretty good with it. Me, not so much A-Jay Quote
