stew6371 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 these boats are not recommended for large bodies of water. how big of a lake have you had your boat on and how big would you go? thanks Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 I've had my 10' jon boat in the intracoastal waterway, inlet, ocean ( but I was a crazy idiot in my youth). You have to be cautious of the wind and how far from safety you are in case the waves pick up or storm moves in. I don't worry how deep the water is, just how quick I can get to safety if need be. stew6371 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 THANKS FOR THE INFO. WE HAVE A BUNCH OF LAKES HERE UNDER 1500 ACRES THAT I PLAN ON STICKING TO MOST OF THE TIME. Quote
jemackinnon83 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I fished Lake Conroe today in my 12 footer. 20,000 acre lake. I'm very restricted on where I can go though:). Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 800 acres is the largest lake I use my 14' on. I couldn't imagine putting it on a river with barges running the river. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 Toledo Bend Reservoir 190,000 acres in a 14-16' With absolutely no problems; you just have to learn where the boat launches are near where you plan on fishing. Learn your limitations and stay with them; keep an eye on the weather & an ear on the weather radio. Quote

Super User Chris at Tech Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 Depends how much motor power and batteries you can carry Quote
d.hark Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Just use common sense and you can take it anywhere. Quote
