berkleyfan81 Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 So I usually fish 20-30lb braid for creature or craw in algae base water not a lot of mats just alage on the bottom . I was talk to some co-worker at work , I said I use 20-30lb with a ewg hook but they said I should be using a 50lb test for Texas rig and jig . I tried it today I didn’t like the jump on the lb water . I saw less sensitivity so what the setup you guys use for like an all around soft plastics . I have 2 combo Revo Rocket 10.1:1 , 7ft mH casting rod and the other Revo sx 7.3:1 with 7ft MH casting rod . Both had 20-30lb braid but want some guidance . I don’t mind using braid , fluoro or mono but just need help . Quote

PAbasser927 Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 I use braid to leader. Leader could be anywhere from 10lbs for senkos in open water to 20lbs for creatures in the slop. When using 20lbs I step up to a heavy rod though. Quote
NathanDLTH Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 My three braids I use for baitcasters are 30, 50, and 65(frogging/flipping n punching). The application you are describing 20 or 30lb braid is fine, if you want a leader I’d say 12-16lb flouro. No need for 50 unless you’re in thick stuff. Quote
