I’ve seen guys post in here about the knockoff eBay casting reels on eBay but wondered if anyone has had experience with the spinning reels.

They sure look fancy and I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying one and giving it a test.

Angone ever use one?

I have bought a number of reels on Ebay and have not been disappointed yet.  I have purchased new and used spinning reels and new BC reels.  I am leery of used BC reels because they are so easy to screw up, like the clutch on a manual trans car.  Treat it right, it will last forever.  Treat it wrong and you can fail it in minutes.

I look for the seller rating and only go with 99% or 100% satisfaction and a reasonable return policy (I've never had to return one).  Usually shipping is free.  I never buy insurance or warranties.

I believe that the consequences of a seller screwing a buyer on Ebay are so severe that few sellers will risk it.  I'm a little less confident of China sellers (my opinion only, based on a fake name brand tennis racket purchase one time).

Knock-offs of what reel(s)?  I've bought several reels (mostly baitcast) from ebay, but they were name brand reels.  Haven't had a problem with one not meeting its description yet.

Why would you buy "knockoff" reels when you can get a name brand reel (both spinning and BC) for pretty cheap.

Not sure where knock off reel comments are coming from.  In my post I mentioned a tennis racket, not reels.  By the way the racket was a "name brand."  Except it wasn't.

The first sentence of the first post. lol.

@Preytorien  Don't do it man, there is plenty of gear from reputable companies for rock bottom prices on Ebay.  One thing I hate seeing nowadays is 'disposable' items that were once built to last.  It seems so strange to buy something not worth fixing.

The OP mentioned how he was looking to buy some knock off brand reels. I never knew they existed. But there is a lot out there. Buyer beware I guess.

I bought an older series Daiwa SS on EBay one time, was dirt cheap. Was too good to be true. Everything was fine. State side transaction. I wasn't about to question why it was so cheap.

Got it, thought you were referring to my post.  Agreed, who would want a knock-off of anything?  The reels I've bought have not been knock-off.

I've paid down as low as $56 for a shimano sahara...  a fuego CT for $54... I'm not sure I see a point in no-name gear. I paid in the 20s once for a last king mela 2.... replaced it once. Both the original and the replacement bent the spool shaft the first time out.

I'm not under any impressions that it will last as long or be as good of quality as my usual Saharas, Stradics, or Sustains.....

I was just wanting to experiment with one and see

a) If they're ANY good at all or just a waste of money entirely

b) If they're decent, how long will they continue to perform and maintain quality

I'm really only exploring it because I'm curious and have way too much time to research this stuff since I'm too busy NOT hooking into anything lately and have time to fiddle with my gear :D

It is possible someone on here has tried the reel....if you told us what you are looking at.  Won't be me, tho.  :teeth:

I've given thought to trying a few less costly rods and reels, but haven't yet.  I'd like to give some of the Kast King stuff a try.  Especially the rods.
