e6x, avid x, tatula elite

Looking to pick up a all purpose rod, i've narrowed it down to they's three. Which one would you guys get?

Never fished the tatula elite series rods, but they do feel pretty nice. I have 2 e6x’s and 2 avid x’s. Personally i feel that the loomis are lighter and better balanced. The avids are a stronger blank. Both are great. I do like the e6x’s a bit better I think, not a ton but a bit which does not seem to be the general consensus around here and i can’t seem to figure out why. They definately seem more sensitive to me. I was going with what everyone else said originally with the avid x being a better rod but when the e6x goes on sale it was too tough to say no to.

I'll vouch for St. Croix Avid blanks but will warn you I'm biased to StC and have only one year of fishing experience and have never handled the E6X or Tatula.

 

That said, based on my experience (5 Premieres and 2 Avids) if I was picking an all purpose bass rod (which I hope to do next month) it will be an Avid. Specifically, a medium power, fast action Avid spinning rod. I feel Avid is a "better" blank without breaking the bank. 

 

I have no doubt the other manufacturers have equally great rods. I'm just not familiar with them.

 

Keep in mind, rumor has it that in terms of power rating, St. Croix generally runs a little stiffer than others. A medium power rod might be closer to a medium-heavy from other manufacturers. At least that's what the internets say.

 

You'll probably get a lot of replies like "we need to know more about what type of species you're after" or "what sort of water are you fishing" etc.

 

Taking your post at face value though, knowing nothing about your intended uses, just literally an "all purpose rod", I vouch for an Avid series M/F spinning rod in 6'6 to 7'0.

 

One good thing about the rods you mention: we're probably splitting hairs talking about the differences among them. At this level there's probably no wrong choice.

Avid would be my first choice. I’ve never handled or even seen an Elite before but I like my regular Tatula rod better than my E6X so I would assume the Elite is even better.

I have handles all of them and have a few Avid and a few e6x

Overall quality and and  usages  are better with the Avid

If your anal about cork and such, the GLX MBR would be my choice and you can find them used on many forums......but it is in a totally different class

I couldn’t really tell you as my avid x’s are split grip, and my one e6x is split grip and the other is full. So I can’t compare.

 

what haggard said about the power ratings. I have noticed the avid’s do fish a little on the heavier side of there rating and out of the 4 loomis rods id say there closer to the lighter side of there ratings. Example being my medium heavy avid x is on the heavier side of that medium heavy. Not a bad thing just something to take note of when your comparing the two. 

 

I really don’t think you can go wrong no matter what you pick. You’ll definately be happy regardless. I just personally prefer the e6x over the avids atleast in the models I have and have fished. Not by a lot by any means. Small things like the weight and balance of the e6x just feels night and day better then an avid x in both spinning and casting

Avid x all the way. I have 2, one spinning and one casting and they are awesome for the price. I've fished a lot of my buddies e6xs and personally think they are way below the Avid. Less sensitive, less powerful and heavier. Haven't fished the tatula elites but I have a regular tatula as well as a zillion and they are both awesome sticks.
