Pastor Tim Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 I have a Daiwa CT Type R. My line keeps on ending up in the spool. When I cast, I will begin retrieve. It is almost like it bunches up to the left side/brake side. Eventually it "jumps the track" and ends up inside spool. I may be crazy, but it seems like the spool is sticking out too far??? Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Have you tried tightening the spool tension knob? Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 22, 2018 Super User Posted September 22, 2018 Tighten the spool tension knob do your lure falls with slight drag when the reel is disengaged to cast. If you loosen the tension anymore then a 1/8 turn more then slight tension when the lure falls it's too loose! The spool shouldn't move side to side more then 1/32" tiny amount of movement. Tom Quote
Big Rick Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Watch your line guide when you reel to insure it's making a complete path side to side. If not, you probably have a bad pall or worm gear. Also, if you have too much line the spool can't correctly "lay" the line down and causes the excess to run off the edges and cause issues. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Sounds like your spool is over filled 1 Quote
Pastor Tim Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 thanks guys. i think it may over spooled. weird thing is... i have never had this issue before. but i'll take some line off. Quote

Trust me, you're not missing nothing! You know which ones you have to really try! Just do it bruh. To the OP, might be a dumb question but, is your line through the line guide on the reel? I've done this before and it does what you're describing. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 General rule is fill to 1/8" of the spool lip. Quote

DINK WHISPERER Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 @Burrows Best is a very subjective term. But imo the A is the best bang for the buck. I got all of mine for sound $115-125. Then tricked them all out. Just do it! Hey, I tried your love baby Shimano ? 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 24, 2018 Super User Posted September 24, 2018 With a T wing the line should down into the narrow slot guide when engaged and retrieving line. line piling up on one side indicates the line isn't moving back and forth in the giude. New reel shouldn't have a worn out pawl, could be defective. Over filling line should show up the first time you cast the reel. I would run out the line behind the boat and rewind back onto the spool watching closely how even it's being spooled. Wet line under tension lays tight and reduces the capacity without cutting off line. This excercise should reveal everything you need to know. Tom Quote

For no good reason that I can articulate, TWS makes this more likely than a more conventional 'hole' line guide....at least for me 2 Quote

Pastor Tim Posted September 30, 2018 Author Posted September 30, 2018 Okay, I think I figured it out. Simple, but I don't know how to fix. The line is not falling into the center of the twing. Hence, when the line guide moves to the left side it bunches enough to throw it in the spool. So, I have to manually push the line down in the the middle. Anyone know how to adjust for this issue? jbrew73 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Are you holding your finger under the line in front of the reel? I don’t know any other reason that it wouldn’t drop in but hopefully someone else can chime in with a suggestion. Quote
