These two guys were fishing Lake Shasta on 9/17 when they noticed a commotion in the water near the bank. They motored over for a closer look and  found a fish thrashing around with a 13" catfish in it's mouth. It was obvious to them that the bigger fish was struggling to get the catfish out of it's mouth. They jumped in the water and managed to get the catfish out of it's mouth. They called the local Fish and Wildlife office and talked to the fisheries biologist on what to do next. They were told to tie a rope to the fish and tow it around to help it breathe and recover. They towed it for awhile with the electric motor and it started to recover. They untied the fish and it swam away. This made the local tv news and Fish and Wildlife are calling them heroes for saving this historic fish. Here's a picture they took. The sturgeon was 8'2" long

Good on them.  Since sturgeon are bottom feeders, I wonder how it sucked up the catfish?
