govallis Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 I have read couple posts saying they are the same reel except deeper spool, for some brands such as Daiwa and Shimano. Does the 3000 have a larger lip diameter? If so, I prefer 3000 for further casting. If the lip diameters are the same, just the slot is deeper, then 2500 is better, because they will cast the same far and I don't waste lots of line. Quote
wet_dream Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Only reel that I own in a 2500 and 3000 size is the Stradic FK. They utilize the same body and spools are interchangeable. Lip diameters are equal, difference being the depth of the spools. I use the 3000 if I’m using heavier line and need the capacity. 2500 if capacity is not a concern. Quote
Yumeya Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Same, some of the 2500-3000 size shimano reels have different handles.... Spool lips are the same, 3000 is just deeper. Quote
