Picked up a Loomis Mossyback BCR 853 - 7' 1", MH/XF, at an estate sale for basically pennies.  Looks in good shape, but I honestly don't have a good idea what I want to use it for.  I guess it is the XF tip that is stumping me - I just have never fished anything that appears to be this quick/snappy.

It's rated 3/16 - 5/8.  I was thinking something more like a Ned rig/shakeyhead baitcaster setup?  I've got a finesse spool I can put on a 6.3:1 daiwa - just not sure it's the right tool for the job.  Really had other plans for that reel.

XF rods are ideal for target casting, pitching, and skipping. So something like a 3/8oz or less jig with 15lb or less line. Maybe a paca craw with 1/4oz weight or so would also be a good choice.

It should also be a great finesse jig rod for something like a 5/16oz jewel eakins jig and 10-12lb flouro

I love fishing lighter trigs on my medium xf. People might disagree and say that’s too fast but that’s what works for me.

I think it might be to heavy for a ned, but I do see it as a bottom contact rod....also, do to get to caught up on fast vs xfast. I see it as jig and worm

My XF tip is my dedicated plastics rod weighted or weightless. That extra fast tip gives me the hook setting I need to make up for my slow reaction to bites. Also that tip helps me better present plastics in a way fish can't resist ?
