you guys are the lucky ones. I've never seen a "Walmart shopper" in any of my visits to Walmart. Nothing that even comes close to comparing to what I've seen online.

I believe the whole concept of "Walmart Shopper" is a smear campaign started by the grocery unions since Walmart refuses to unionize.  It also has a regional tilt, with those on the coasts turning up their nose at a company with roots in the south.  Look at the posts on this thread and a majority of the time, the location of the author will dictate their opinion on Walmart.

I came to these beliefs a few years after my son began to work for the Walmart corporation out here in California.  As an employee, he has been treated much better than he was at a unionized Albertsons prior to that and reports the customers he sees at his store are really no different than he saw at Albertsons.  While he has seen some odd folks late at night at Walmart, the most amazing thing he ever saw was at Albertsons at closing time.  A man who looked like Howard Sterns doppelganger came in wearing a shear black dress & matching black heels.

I remember well my last trip to Walmart several years ago.  I was walking out to my car after a terribly long wait to check out with terrible service.  The tower clock at the side of the building donged 4 times.  I thought to myself,  it can't be four o'clock already.  I looked up at the clock and it showed 2:30.  I thought, this place is nuts,  and I haven't been back since.

Lol !!!!!???

I like to get in and rub elbows with the crazy, like seeing a wild animal in it's natural environment.

I tried to bring my hunting rifle and they kicked me out!

I've done this so many times its ridiculous. You ask yourself if what you have is really worth waiting until the lady in the front of the line gets her check book out, writes the date, changes the date cause the first time it was wrong, has a chat with the cashier, tells the cashier she wants the items in the bag separated, the cashier has to call over another employee to help her with the check, both cashier and other employee call over manager to help with check, manager has to call someone who knows how to run check through machine and lady realizes that she didn't sign the check. Half way through that garbage I'm dumping everything I had in my cart onto a nearby shelf, abandoning the cart and walking out with an angry and confused look on my face.

I use the self checkout lines to avoid all that nonsense. My local Walmart's have self checkouts for less than 20 items and ones for unlimited items.

That 20 items or less sign seems to be ignored where I live. Should say 200 items or less. I've actually seen people with 2 cart-loads go through the self checkout line. You could hear the people behind them groan.

While I think that Wal-Mart is an American success story, old Sam's family has done everything possible to this point to ruin the shopping experience. I pretty much refuse to darken the door with the following exceptions.

1. The Gulf Shores, AL store. It's a great store, well ran, great (helpful) associate's, always clean, always well staffed (read shorter lines).

2. My wife and I have recently discovered Wal-Mart online ordering. Order our stuff, pay online, pull up and they load it for you and it's free. Kroger has it too, but they charge for it. Don't have to go in the store at all. If there's an issue, it's always decided in the customers favour. I'm an apple-aholic. I ordered a dozen red delicious apples. The guy filling the order said "I'm sorry, but the non-organic apples did not look very good. I filled your order with organic apples at the regular price." I still buy fresh meat at the local butcher, refuse to buy prepackaged Wal-Mart meats.

Here's the proof that it's not a conspiracy. You can get lost on this website for hours:

And here's a catchy tune (with real photos) about the People of Wal Mart:

I have yet to be in a Walmart where the greeters or other employees are anything like the people you see in their commercials! I'm not sure as far as Walmart goes those people actually exist!
