Rust on spinnerbaits

Is it ok to soak my spinnerbaits in white vinegar to get the rust off the hooks. Not inline spinners but spinnerbaits.

Me neither, but I imagine anything that will remove rust will work. 

However, whatever you use make certain there is no residue, film etc left on it when you're done especially the hook.

I unfortunately forgot to let my baits dry after a couple trips and got rust on them

I would use a Scotch-Brite™ pad & lightly sand it.

 

They will rust again ?

Once cleaned.  Spray a little WD40 on them.  Keeps the skirts supple and prevents rust.  I spray all of my spinnerbaits and terminal tackle.

And some believe it attracts fish. ? I'd experiment with it rusty (except the hook point). Fish probably won't care. Or change out the blades. I've kept every spinnerbait I've ever had so I have some extra blades and swivels around.

The old formula had fish oil as an ingredient.  I think they did away with that but I have found that it doesn't bother the fish one bit.

I hate the part about not using it for arthritis. I was hoping to get a doctor to inject some into my knees to help them feel better.

Why not try something different? Pick up some black nail polish from the dollar store. Dries quick, pretty chip resistant, and use that one for night time/cloudy days. Single blades seem to work better, more vibration.

Quarantine them from your good ones. Rust is like the plague, it may start as one small case, but that stuff can get around in a tackle tray.

Non-Hazardous Ingredients Mixture <10 Devils in the details.    Did you see the article where the President of WD40 moved the written formula from 1 bank vault to another and was transported in an armored truck and had it in a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist?    I have a feeling not all is told on the MSDS.
