Super User the reel ess Posted September 16, 2018 Super User Posted September 16, 2018 I made a crate for the rear well using milk crate, pvc pipe and zip ties. It was free. Now, with the two flush mount rod holders, I can take 7 rods and hold a tackle box, scale, extra bags of plastics, etc. Very useful. I put a zig-zag cleat on the side opposite the bungee paddle holder. Sometimes I use a stringer and that's very handy so I don't always have to untie the stringer to put more fish on. I've always wanted a stadium seat for my kayak, but it's too tippy for that. I just use one of those cheap stadium cushions and it's pretty comfy for hours of fishing. Before I started using it, my feet would fall asleep after a couple hours and I'd have to squirm around to wake em up. A kayak will give you all kinds of cheap or free upgrade ideas. 1 Quote
Harold Scoggins Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I made a 12V rear nav light that's powered via a control box (mounted on my crate) and plugged into a SAE connector in the tank well. Wire runs up inside to a power supply box (24 amh) that I made this past winter. The control box also powers the rear camera. It's really nice to be able to reach behind me and turn the light off when not needed. 2 Quote

Somd Fx4 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Yesterday I made a rod holder out of 1" and 1 1/4" PVC. I would post a picture but the file size is too big. Quote

I'm mainly a river guy so mine has probably never been deeper than 6'. For me, it holds me in the current while river fishing. Wasn't cheap, but I like it. 2 Quote

I tie it off to my anchor trolley. Probably to most used accessory I have. It’s good in up to 6’ of water. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 17, 2018 Super User Posted September 17, 2018 For me it is my stakeout pole and anchor trolley. They are awesome for my style of fishing but i am going to set up an anchor to go directly off the bow for river fishing that is more easily deployed and retrieved for some of the smaller flows i fish. Also as far as scupper carts go, be careful as not many kayaks are designed to handle the added stress a scupper cart puts on the kayak. I have seen a lot of cracks in scuppers from using them. 1 Quote

Bath mat (for car-topping - used rags previously, but bath mat is ideal) 2. Smart battery charger - sonar batteries life span pretty short using the cheap plug in charger that came with them. 1 Quote
