Whenever I have looked, I have been unable to find sales on the HMG line. You should be able to find them for that price in used condition. Check the buy and sell section here or local area. Quote
tholmes Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 I've had a couple of Abu Garcia Vengence casting rods for a few years now and I like them a lot. IMHO, the best $50 rod out there. Tom 3 Quote
Super User burrows Posted September 16, 2018 Super User Posted September 16, 2018 Ugly stick makes for a good cranking rod but as far as bass fishing that’s all I would ever consider using it for. Quote
je1946 Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 Buy a used rod. Lots of better rods than the lightning on the flea market site at that price point. Quote

The Elite is the NEW version with GRAPHITE and much more sensitive...fish with a friend who loves it and catches bass with it... I own a Shakespeare Agility casting rod that's a composite I picked up from Shakespeare's clearance for 10.49...love it for spinnerbaits and cranks....works well for wormin' and is 6'6" med. fast 1/8 - 5/8... don't worry about rod snobs... good fishing... Yes Ugly Stiks are very good rods for saltwater fishing and many saltwater fishermen use them. I caught a 31.5 inch keeper snook last weekend on a Ugly Stick and that rod is older than some members here.Have not broken a Ugly Stik, even with high sticking them and high sticking is one of the most common ways a rod breaks while fighting a fish. Well I don’t know your carrier but I tried ups and usps both charged 40 plus, here California . Anyhow to much hassle. I’ve sold rods on Craigslist locally pretty easily and reels threw eBay very conveniently. 13 hours ago, greentrout said: Hook a big fish using an Ugly Stik and that fish is at your mercy...seen it up close... good fishing... Ugly sticks won’t break but the guides break pretty often, I don’t know about the way they were built ten years ago but I don’t buy ugly sticks no more because of the guides. Quote

I have flipped +10 pound saltwater fish with some of my Ugly Stiks, doing that would snap most bass rods. I use my biggest Ugly Stiks for shark fishing and they are great for sharks in the 6-8 foot range, with the occasional +8 footer. Quote
Chris186 Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I have used BPS rods a lot in the past, and in my 30 years of fishing I have never broke a single one. The said, I still have a Berkley Stinger 5'6 rod that I like to use for spooks that I got back in the 80's when I was a kid. Quote

I shipped a 7’ rod a couple weeks ago for $14 through USPS Priority Shipping. Dropped it off at 5 pm Friday and it arrived at its destination Monday morning at 10 am Quote
