Most trusted mono or copolymer lines by pros?

Just wondering what the most consistently trusted and recommended lines are?

? I was going to answer but then I realized I'm not a pro. I still like P-line CXX and Izorline XXX though.

Obviously, the PRO'S tout whatever brand is paying their bills.? A pro I am NOT.  However, I've had great success with Seaguar AbrazX. It's "affordable" yet has very low memory and good sensitivity. For mono I use Cajun Line. It is dirt cheap, tough as nails, and almost NO memory. It's also RED and I have fished clear water lakes that I could see my bait 10 ft down and still caught fish on it. Seems the fish disregard the red color.

I do not care what the ''pros'' think is the best line since the best line they recommend is often from a company sponsoring them.I do not care about tournament bass fishing and care about catching lots of bass, especially big bass.With that said my favorite monofilament line is Berkley Big Game Mono since it has very good abrasion resistance,of excellent quality, and cost much less than other lines.

Me  too . The only time i dont use it  is on my worm and jig rod , only because it doesnt come  in clear blue fluorescent .

One of my favorite Mono's as well.

Hear Here! for Big Game. It's the only mono I use anymore except on my light spinning combos. I also use it for leaders on my combos that have braid on them. I don't know if I need to, but I feel more confident having a clearer line tied to the bait. Not a long leader, just about 4 or 5 ft. I use 15 lb for that and it's strong enough to bale hay with. I do change it a couple times a year if I'm fishing a lot. Fluoro just isn't necessary here.

I'm not a pro (nor have I ever stayed at a Holiday Inn Express) however, I REALLY like Yo-Zuri hybrid.  It's not quite as limp as, say, Trilene XL but still it has little line memory and it's much stronger for it's rated test weight.

Thankyou everyone for your suggestions and replies. I didn’t realize that about the pro fisherman just pushing what their sponsored by. 

Coming more from a Catfishing background I didn’t have to worry about that since most of the fisherman weren’t sponsored by anyone.

 

Its COOL a number of you mentioned Berkeley Big Game, since that’s what I already use on most of my Catfishing outfits. ??

8lb is a good starting point for spinning gear. It's a good combination of strength and manageability.

Let's be honest here, no matter what line you use, there is a "pro" pushing it or using it.  So just because a pro is representing a line manufacturer, doesn't mean it's bad.  I happen to think that "most" of the pro ranks spool the line they promote but as is always the case, trial and error is the best way to refine your line choices.  Everybody fishes differently in some way and that will help determine what line works best for them....but not necessarily you. Determine what type of line you are looking for and for what application and then getting opinions is fine.  Just keep in mind that eventually, you will get a recommendation for every line out there.

I agree with Hulkster. I love Sufix Siege line. I use 12 pound on my baitcasters for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and topwaters. I use 10 pound on my spinning reels with an 8pound floro leader. I use Sunline Super floro on my soft bait and jig setups. It is one of your cheaper floro lines but has worked very well for me.

Considering that one of the most respected pro anglers, KVD, still promotes FC lines as being low stretch, when it has been proven that it isn’t, I put very little stock in anything a Pro has to say about gear.

I have had BPS 8lb Excel mono on my three spinning reels for 18 years now and it has served me, my grandson and daughter well in fishing the Tidal Potomac. Never saw a need to change and must be why I have a 5000 YD spool hanging over my fishing bench.

I use Excel on my spinning reels also. I just bought a bulk spool of 14 lb. Excel (clear blue fluorescent) and have been using it on my baitcasting reels for worm and jig fishing and, so far, it's working well.

The BPS Excel 14lb in green is also a favorite for the same period of time and it is on at least four reels to this day.  Another jumbo spool of it on the board also.  Great, reasonably priced line.  I remember for the longest time when you could buy a spool of it and get 50% off a second spool, but that went away.
