My point exactly, you aren't catching a speeding boat with an air boat.

Except there are places on Minnetonka that a boat can't get through - they have to go around. The Airboat CAN go through those spots and 'intercept' the speeding boat on the other side.

There's also binoculars and radios to contact the Sheriff's patrol.

Reason for the 40mph speed limit - Minnetonka is designated a 'recreational lake. Sailboats from 10' Sunfish to Ketches (twin masts), waterskiers and tubers, kayakers and canoeists, paddleboarders. Speed limit set in place to 'protect' those people.

Great article Glenn. You get to have all the fun. The one big upside to the Fish Pro that I can see is that it can pull double duty. You can fish with it on those days when you want to get out by yourself and also use it as a PWC when you are with the family just horsing around. A good compromise for those with a missus that is dead set against getting a boat.

But she’s on board with dropping $15-$20k on a sea doo with fishing rod holders?  Seems like a very small population of women would fall into that category if you ask me.

If you have a jet ski and want to bring a rod to fish off it, knock yourself out.. better than not fishing at all.  As far as making a jetski specifically marketed towards fisherman?  Pretty stupid in my opinion.

I'm thinking it's marketed to the more dedicated angler that frequents these boards.  There is probably enough of a market for the guy that is already in the market for two jet skis, and does some fishing.  He walks into the dealer with his spouse, and sees one of these, and is sold.  It may never had occurred to him that he could add the rodholders, graph, cooler, etc. and to have one already rigged up is convenient.  Same concept BPS came up with in their prerigged Bass Trackers.

I'm sure a lot people said that about "fishing kayaks" too.  :)

Agree to disagree?  A kayak is similar to a canoe, which has been a fishing boat for centuries.  Besides being thousands of dollars cheaper, which appeals to a huge market of anglers looking for a cost effective way to get off the bank, it’s also light weight, easily transportable, highly customizable, and likely a much less awkward fishing platform.

If given the opportunity, I’d use one and have a blast.  Jet skis are fun, fishing is my passion.. just wouldn’t ever spend my hard earned money on one of these and don’t see a big market for them.

Interesting. Don't think I would buy one but I may try fishing on my wife's jet ski since she already has one. I like fishing off my boat (50 years) but I gotta say since I started Yak fishing last year it's rejuvenated my excitement for fishing. I actually fish my Yak twice as much as my boat during summer just because it's still fun when fishing is slow, I get a little exercise and it's easy to get out by myself (read retired). The PWC is another option and anything that gets a fisherman on the water is good but for me the downside would be holding position to fish structure. My guess is the best use for PWC fishing would be in open water where we predominantly drift fish (Lake Erie, Chesapeake Bay, etc..). Also a bass fisherman can pick up a decent boat already rigged for the 15 grand price tag that these are going for.

Any way to install a livewell?  Otherwise you’re stuck with catch, photo, release, and I don’t think the kayak folks would let you play with them come tournament day.

I would not call any kind of method one uses to go fishing "stupid".  Why would you?

Saw it today @ the boat/fishing show (Detroit), $16500. (!) Never looked at the price of a non-fishing one. Would work for drift fishing.

Don't forget the side planer board rigging stuff for muskies..

Ok guys, want to see it in action? With me fishing in it?  At Stick Marsh 13?

Well your wish is my command!

Pretty cool.  Your comments about control while fishing reminded me of kayaking.  It seems like an option for a PowerPole Micro would be a great idea.

I wonder why they don't actually have a traditional trolling motor option or at least a mounting option available for one. I doubt it's a weight capacity issue as I'd imagine anybody fishing would prefer to be solo on it anyways.

Those are designed to mount to the stabilizers on a standard motor. With the vectored-thrust jet-drive of a Sea Doo, you don't have that available. It'd have to be a 'hull-mount' for it to fit.

Cool concept, but seems pretty useless unless you got cash to burn just so you can say "I fish from a jetski".

If you think of it as merely another bass boat, you're missing the point.
