Andy007 Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 With the help from members on these forums and advice from the Batson Company I selected the REVS610MLXF blank for my last winter build. I made a casting rod with a spiral layout, nothing fancy just a functional rod. Loaded it with 10# braid and 90% of the time it had a 1/8 oz Texas rig with various types and weights of plastics. With that ¼ to ½ oz weight baits it casts perfect, tried casting a ¾+ oz bait and that made the rod real soft. I fish a lot of tall cabbage and had plenty of backbone for a good hook set. The sensitivity is great and when fishing the rod it feels really light and bites from weeds is easily read. Bottom line is I built this rod for light texas rigs and plain finesse jigs and it preforms at or above what I hoped for! Great forums and thank for your help! 2 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted September 8, 2018 Super User Posted September 8, 2018 Not surprised, Revelations are great blanks that perform as if they were more expensive than they are. I don't have that one but have built others, never disappointed. Quote
spoonplugger1 Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Not surprised either, the Batson clan has a long history of making a blank of that design in RX7, RX8, and RX8+ that everyone loved, before the new lineups. After fishing many other sticks from many sources, I'm covinced my RX8+ stick is about as good as it gets in that blank design. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Haven't been disappointed yet. Been building leadcore trolling rods for a bunch of local walleye guys with a couple of blanks and they've been doing awesome and cashing checks. Quote
