Super User everythingthatswims Posted September 5, 2018 Super User Posted September 5, 2018 Had a fun day on the lake yesterday, I got finished up with class at noon and obviously headed out shortly thereafter! I caught a couple largemouth in the grass, then I went out deep and found some crazy stuff with my electronics. There were unbelievable amounts of baitfish, and when I saw fish near the bottom underneath them, I knew it was gonna go down. I caught smallmouth, walleye, and pike on a Berkley Dredger 25.5, it was a blast! 10 Quote
WVU-SCPA Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 78.2??? We were rocking a solid 88 surface temp in PA last night. The forecast of 68 and rainy has me excited for a club tourney Saturday, solely for something different. Quote

But we have some deep lakes with tall dams Quote
Fairtax4me Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Nice toothy fishes there! Had a similar day last weekend when the bait fish were stacked like I've never seen before, but the bass just weren't interested in eating a lure. At the end of the day shad were spread out as far as you could see across the surface of the lake. Lake was glass, flat calm, except for Millions of 2-3" shad making tiny ripples on almost every square inch of the water feeding on a massive hatch and die-off of tiny gnats that were all over the surface. Didn't see a single bass come up to feed on the shad. Quote

I’m still learning to read electronics so looking for clues for future reference lol Quote

Fish under bait are pretty straightforward, the bait will usually look like a big cloud or blob, and gamefish are usually below them and look like arches, or small blobs. If the cloud is broken apart into smaller clouds with gamefish marks in between, it's game time! 1 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted October 28, 2018 Super User Posted October 28, 2018 23 foot and the 25.5 Dredger reached them. I have all the Dredger sizes, they flat out get down and stay down. 1 Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 Fish finder is hillbilly for sonar. My question was what brand and model sonar unit he was using. I couldn't think of the word so my redneck came out as fish finder Quote
Janderson45 Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 It’s a Humminbird, looks like a Helix series. Funny though, mine shows fish in 25’ of water quite a bit different than that picture. I get arches and lines a lot more often than blobs, maybe it’s because I use high frequency CHIRP or possibly something to do with chart speed? 1 Quote

Those are just 10-14" smallmouth and rock bass mixed together. I have gone back over and over, they LIVE there! Bigger fish look like arches. There is a chance that is a school of crappie, but I don't think it is. Quote
