Not at all. The 90 would spin like a top and create major line twist. There's a delicate balance between the body of the bait and the tail. That's why the 75 is shorter yet much fatter. It's necessary to keep the body on an even keel while the bigger tail does it's magic.

Makes sense. I love the size of the 90, I just can’t get it to run reliably past 35 feet

they didn’t have them. Was bummed out

I just happened to be in my local F&S the day they got em in. Asked one of the guys when they might get em in and he goes “hold on”. Comes back 2 minutes later with a box and says “literally just got this in 20 minutes ago, take yer pick”.

I only bought one. I wasn’t dropping a whole buncha cash on another plopper than ran like the 90. But I’ll definitely buy more. I’ll hand my 90’s over to my wife, who can’t cast em far enough where they run like crap ?

Ordered mine on Ebay for cheaper than they're going to be in stores plus free shipping.

The 75 still twists line. I had to add a swivel which I hated. Also I wish it didn’t take several feet for it to come up and start making noise. It’s almost like it needs to be lighter. Otherwise I really like the 75 and will probably have one on until winter.

I also use a snap and swivel so I can switch out quickly and to avoid line twist. This is what I use.

Interesting about your problem with the 75. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else have a problem. Maybe you got a bad one or there are just some that don’t run well.

It’s almost like it needs a heavier hook up front to keel it better but because of the slow start up I don’t want to add weight if I can help it.

Thanks for the heads up about the swivels. I’ll be buying some of those.

For what it's worth, my Tackle Warehouse shipment just dropped and I for my hands on my 75's. I bought 3. I immediately tied one on and went to my "testing pool" (40ft long swimming pool) to try them out. I reeled this thing in as fast as I could with a 6.3/1 reel and couldn't make it blow out or twist. Seriously tried HARD to get it to twist. I was throwing it on 30 lb braid. Color me impressed!  I can't wait to get it in front of some fish!!

On a slower retrieve it plopped right along real seductively. No sinking issues, no wait time to engage. Stop and start was very enticing. Maybe five-bites bait needs adjustment on the tail section. It seems it may not be as free as it needs to be. Mine spin effortlessly. Just my $.02.

I would load a photo but I can't seem to get one down to 1.46mb......?

I hope this particular one was a fluke but it twisted my mono like crazy. Keep in mind I fished it almost exclusively Saturday on a 7ish hour trip. If I let my line go slack it twisted terribly. I’ll buy some more and see if it persists. A swivel will fix it but I’d really rather not add any weight to the front of it.

Are you getting weeds/debris between the body and tail? If so, and you aren't using a swivel, you line is going to twist like crazy. The SPRO Power swivels are small, light and strong

I bought 4 of the 75s. Love them. Although I do have one of the bunch where I have to remember to keep my rod tip up or it will dip and roll some. No problems with the others. Might help you? Maybe it’s just that we’re buyung the first run of a product too and they’ll get it worked out.

All these Whopper Plopper posts are making me want to get back on the water and hook some monsters!!!

I know, right!!  As I was testing mine in my pool I had to really fight the urge to hook to my boat and take off to the lake!!

Maybe swapping out the rear hook for a heavier one will help keep the nose up

This is a good idea. A simple one too that should have occurred to me lol. I’ll try it.

I changed out all the trebles on all of them right after I got them. In the past I’ve really not liked R2S’s hooks, although these do seem a bit better.
