Talk me out or in to buying this rod!

Here's my dilemma, I found a used but excellent condition rod FS locally and trying to justify the purchase. I do 90% of fishing out of my kayak and was really trying to keep it minimal on how many rods I take an outing. I was hoping to keep it at 4, maybe 5. Anyways, I can get a Mojo Bass 68MXF topwater for a steal, but don't really know if I can justify it as I have a very similar rod in the Avid. Could I use the Mojo for strictly topwater and relegate the Avid to Spinnerbaits/Buzzbaits? What would you all throw on the Avid and Mojo?  I know I'll kick myself later for not buying it and I'll more than likely go get it today. Just looking for some advice on what to use it for, haha  Here is my current kayak arsenal.

That rod does well with spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, walking/popping topwaters, smaller open hook swimbaits, lightly weighted Texas rigs, jerk/rip baits.  It's really a do all rod.  I have two SC 6-8 MXF, but in the Avid line.  Same blank as the Mojo.

I don't have that rod, but Mr. Franco is not the only member on here that has said it is a very versatile rod and a favorite of many.  The fact you can get a sweet deal on it is reason enough to buy it.

Thanks, so how is this for a thought? Use the Mojo 68MXF as a strictly topwater rod (pop'rs, whopper ploppers, spooks) and the Avid I already have for what? Dedicated spinnerbait, buzzbait, jerkbait? I don't have a lot of time to fish so my time is valuable to me. Wanting to keep it minimal in rods but also have everything I need to minimize re-tying and trying to decide on which rod to use at that moment.

I have a LTB in 68mxf. It’s my go to for jerkbaits and shaky heads. Also use it a good bit for Zara spooks.

My move is try both rods and pick which just feels better to you for each bait/technique.  I get the retying deal - I'm in a kayak most of the time as well.  I either bring my 6-2 MXF or my 6-8 MXF, but rarely both.  If I think I'm doing topwater more, it's the shorter rod.  If it's spinnerbaits, then the longer.

I'm having second thoughts now, as I love my Avid and the Mojo seems too similar. Ugh, tough decision.

 

I feel I could put the money towards feeding the bait monkey this weekend at the TW Labor Day sale.

Nice thing about a great deal on a rod or reel, is that if you have a change of heart in a couple months, the resale value may not be all that far off from your cost.

I would think versatility is your friend for a kayak and I have that exact rod. Probably the most versatile rod i have- any moving bait, top water, even makes a real good square bill rod, light texas rig, light jigs. It'll do it all. I really like mine and i paid more than double that price.

I have the 6'8" Mojo and it's my favorite. Use it for a variety of presentations out of my kayak, mainly for ned rig with great success. You will be very happy with your deal; a great buy.

Great deal buy. If it's cherry shape that 1/2 price. I fish 1st and 2nd generations of Mojo rods. I like them. You'll find the right purpose for it. But I can't spend your money. If you like it your not going wrong.

I was considering buying perhaps the same very rod for the same presentations, would compliment my setup as well as my kids quite nicely. (Of course that will be next year as chemo has generally made me too tired to fish).

 

So yeah I say go for it.
