Where are some of ya all mounting it at?

I mounted mine on the inside of the transom of my Bass Tracker.

I have mine mounted on the center line in the stern.  It is a 3 bank and quite heavy.  They usually have a short power cord and battery leads so you want it  close to your batteries.

I upgraded to a three-bank charger when I upgraded trolling motor system from 12 to 24 volts.

well I was reading the manual and it (its an XPSi-5) says to keep away from the gas tank and to make sure it has plenty of ventilation(during use) and to make sure the ac power cord is located in an open-air of your boat at least 21 inches from the charger, batteries and fuel fill lines.

So it appears I have limited choices (I think)

Mine is the ProMariner PT300 three bank.  It's not big bulky or heavy. In my Javelin there was enough room for mine to fit snuggly between the fuel tank and compartment panel.  I installed a Peko external plug that's mounted up on the gunwall outside the battery/fuel tank compartment so all I have to do is pop up the plastic cover that's over it and plug my extension cord in.  It has been there over three years with no problems.   I keep a boat cover on my boat so before I cover it, I prop all the hatch lids open a few inches and use keep a small ventilation fan running under it at all times to keep everything from sweating and getting condensation build up.

Fishingbuds, first of all, if you have an XPS charger, be prepared to replace it the day after your warranty expires.  There have been many bad reviews about the XPS chargers on the BPS website.  Secondly, mount the unit in the most convenient location.  BPS has to cover their butts from a liability stand point, so has to throw in all those "Don't do this" comments.  I agree with Way2slow that you should mount your AC plug-in outside of the battery/fuel tank compartment.

I don't worry about where to mount it; I don't use one! I use the "Stay N' Charge" system. Have had it for 2 full seasons now with no problems or worries. When I get home from fishing, I'm done for the day; both my batteries are fully charged and ready to go.
