Well, I finally couldn't stand the pain and went and got my top right wisdom tooth removed. Operation went well and all, but the price made me want to cry... $500 for this tooth, and it's gonna be $1,040 for the other three. :( Take care of your teeth people.

The pain was so bad last night and I was on the boat, I tried to grab it with my index finger and thumb and pop it out, but it was in there SOLID. I realized I was being a dummy trying to be my own dentist. I almost thought about doing it Tom Hanks, Castaway style when I got home but my better judgement just told me to wait til the morning. Tooth pain is enough to make someone contemplate suicide if it gets bad enough lol.

Glad you had it done and are planning to have the other three removed.

Tooth pain is really bad for you guys who have never suffered through it.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled many, many years ago. Kept them in small square plastic boxes but lost them during one of our moves from one house to another.

And you are right about having healthy teeth. Your mouth is reflection of your overall health and if you let them go you will have major problems and unnecessary costs in the future.

Feel better, soon.

Thanks! It's been 2 hours so far and the anesthetic is wearing off. So far so good. I am just praying I don't get dry socket.

Keep ice on it constantly (or as long as you can stand it - the longer the better) to keep the swelling down.

You'll be glad if you do & sad if you don't.

Had my last 2 wisdom teeth taken out 2 decades ago. Only upside was I woke up in the arms of a pretty dental hygienist. Pain was bad for 5 days. I recommend getting the rest done all at the same time if you can. Beats having to go through the pain over and over.

I'd have loved to get them all done at once, but I have no dental insurance and they wouldn't do a payment plan. I just don't have $1500 to spend on this right now. Even the initial $500 for this tooth really put me back. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of money to some people, but I don't have a whole lot of money to blow after I had to start paying my student loans this year. Probably going to have to sell a toy or two to build an emergency fund for these types of things.

I guess this is growing up ?

Listen to your dentist's instructions. Dry sockets hurt more than the original pain. Trust me!

Yeah, I told him I vaped and he told me if I must, inhale gently or through the nostril haha. I think I can hold off on it for a few days though. The bleeding has stopped so that's good. No pain either! I am all good for fishing tonight. Gonna be a lot more enjoyable than last night..

Not to minimize your pain, but one of my wisdom teeth grew down instead of up until it started pushing against the root of the next tooth. They had to remove both teeth and almost took all of that section of jaw doing so. I was on happy pills for a couple of weeks and a liquid diet for three months.

sounds like you got off lucky.

Holy crap, that sounds terrible! I definitely am happy with how easy the operation was. My bottom left one isn't gonna be as easy. The roots are all wonky. He said it still shouldn't be terrible. Just a little more wrench time under the hood for that one.

Having to go through Orthodontics treatments with Invisalign before that one tooth extraction and three root canals with the three root canals done all in the same day. The doctor who did the root canals knew how to take care of me being the patient and made sure I didn't feel anything.

I'm on the last part of the Invisalign treatment which is good. The only thing to be aware of for anyone who is thinking about getting Invisalign is the expander it hurts when tighten until the pain relieves it self I had to wear it for six months I couldn't eat much. I was glad to finish with the expander and went on to the Invisalign trays.

I agree with this.  My wisdom teeth were growing in sideways and pushing against my other teeth.  I had to get all 4 removed.  They did it all at once.  When I was able to return to work, my co-workers said I looked like a chipmunk with cheeks full of nuts.  Hope everything goes well for you for your other teeth.

Had all 4 of mine pulled at the same time and went to work the next day. You know your buddies your work with are a bunch of jerks when all they can do is try to make you laugh or smile all day because they know it hurts when you do.

There is a credit deal called Credit Care, interest is a little high, but most times you get a short interest free period, don’t be late or miss a payment though, and like others said, take care of your teeth, or be prepared to spend several thousand,,,,, and invest a lot of pain, nothing you can do about the way wisdom teeth grow, all 4 of mine were sideways and had to be surgically removed also.

I am still on the soft food diet after having a dental implant removed and bone graft material put in. And bone graft material put around another implant. The one being removed broke off so the had to dig it out, fortunately got some good pills...

Still remember like yesterday when I had an infected molar.  But I had to be on a plane in two days for a family funeral.  Long story short......couldn't take meds as time was too short to get rid of infection.  The shots they give you for pain did not work due to the infection neutralizing the shots.  Nurse was sweating bullets...doc sweating bullets....I too was sweating bullets along with many other feelings!!!  What a memory...having a tooth pulled and hearing all the noises and getting all those feelings.  Hopefully never again......

Good luck to ya

What's the going rate for a tooth from the tooth fairy these days?  Perhaps you can recoup some of your loses.
