GoneFishingLTN Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 I have a merc 150hp 4stroke when I tow this it always seems to crack my transom saver no matter how many new ones I buy. What can I do to help prevent this? Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted August 23, 2018 Super User Posted August 23, 2018 What kind of "Transom Saver" are you using? Trailer to Lower or those that attach to the motor rams? Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 Trailer to lower and the heavy duty one. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted August 23, 2018 Super User Posted August 23, 2018 Common problem with Rangers because of the distance to the trailer from the Lower Unit. The best way to minimize it is to use Steering clips to keep the side to side action to a minimum and make sure your motor is straight and very snug down on the transom saver. Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted August 23, 2018 Author Posted August 23, 2018 Can’t use a motor mate with this motor and it’s cable steering so I’ve heard the clips won’t work Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted August 23, 2018 Super User Posted August 23, 2018 What angle is your motor at when it is on the toter? You might have to let it set more vertical which reduces your ground clearance but helps keep the motor straight. Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted August 25, 2018 Author Posted August 25, 2018 I’ll take some pitctheea today and upload them tonight. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 25, 2018 Super User Posted August 25, 2018 Do you have a solid transom saver or one with a shock absorber? Quote
Super User Further North Posted August 26, 2018 Super User Posted August 26, 2018 This is exactly why I moved from transom savers to the MyWedge. Broken transom savers are telling you something: Shocks from the trailer are getting transferred right up that aarm to you lower unit... Quote
