Does anyone own the Rod Sox rod sleeve?

No store around here sells this particular product so this would be a blind purchase for me through the internet. About the black ring around the bottom of the sleeve just above where the reel sits - is it black rubber or hard plastic? Can it be rolled up if the one you buy is too long for your rod?

I'd describe it as soft, hard plastic....it cannot be rolled...at least, not by me.

I'm a bit tired of all the mesh types.... seriously considering getting a bunch of Rosie's Rod Pockets

All of my rods are covered by the Rod Sox. So far I love them. Like Choporoz said, it's a flexible but not truly soft form of rubber. You can definitely tell it's protective though. Additionally, the tip has the same protection for the top guide of your rods.

I can also attest the service from them is great. I found out the hard way that they don't float, even though they're made of plastic/rubber. I emailed them to say that while I was happy with their product to make sure their website notes that it's not buoyant since mine blew out of the boat. They replied asking me what kind I lost, and they promptly sent me a new one. Pretty great in my opinion.

That's interesting thaat you applaud their customer service. I emailed them 3 days ago asking a few questions about their product an no reply yet.... I thought they might be interested in selling some but I guess not.

That is certainly surprising. Maybe I caught them on a slow day at the office. They actually emailed me asking for my phone number, I replied back, and they called me within 30 minutes. 

 

They own, or are owned by, the same company that makes Lake Fork tackle I believe, maybe they're just short staffed, but in either case, as a company it's pertinent to reply in a timely fashion to your consumers. This makes me a bit worried.

Over the last couple of years I have emailed several different fishing companies with questions about their products. SHOCKINGLY I have gotten an extremely poor amount of response back. You would think this would be a growing sport that companies would go out of their way to respond to customers. Customers that are willing trying to spend money on their product. Hasn't been the case in my experience....

Email is a very inefficient way to communicate person to person.  It is nice tool for storing receipts from online purchases, status updates, tracking info, etc.  But trying to get across a question or complaint?  Call them.  Find them on Facebook.  I guarantee you'll get a much faster response.
