Anyone else a car enthusiast here on the forum? I grew up around muscle cars my father had them and same with my uncles such as Mustangs, Belairs and Roadrunners. My father built most of his 1955 Chevrolet Belair 2dr hardtops. His last custom built car was a 1955 Chevrolet 2dr hardtop customized for the street and never was raced on the racing strip. One day my father wasn't feeling too good so he laid down for couple of hours to rest he told me to take him to the Hospital and found out from the cath lab doctor my father needed emergency heart surgery stat/fast but the heart surgeon and her team couldn't get to my father that day so they admitted him for early morning surgery.  The cardiac heart surgeon told my father few days later he would need to sale off all the stuff that caused him stress and etc. So my father thought hard about it and sold the car to a lady out in California for her and her husband wedding anniversary. 

 

I like watching the car shows such as Jay Leno's Garage, Chasing Classic Car and etc.

 

My father and I always talked about purchasing one when we can find the right one that he likes and would love to drive we checked the car shows, auctions and eBay. We found a guy that won his and his wife's 1955 Chevrolet Belair fully custom from a car show raffle ticket but the guy won't sale it.

2C070DE2-49C6-4C6F-A5AC-510CAC2B1B04.thumb.jpeg.2b7617ed9559713ae6bebc8f54db856e.jpegYep.  I’m a rag top A-Body fan. Sold a beautiful ‘72 Monte Carlo to pay for the ‘72 Skylark convertible, pictured below, in the 80’s.  One friend has a ‘69 Torino GT, another just bought a ‘71 442 convertible clone w/ built 455, and a 3rd is finishing a modern Chevy V-8 w/6-speed stick in his ‘72 Nova....

 

I go to Mecum’s Kissimmee auction every year.  I lost out on a couple rag tops, but I’m not giving up.

 

It all started growing up riding around in Mom’s ‘70 Vista Cruiser...

 

ADD: I forgot to say my current go-fast is my ‘07 BMW K1200S ....

I owned a '70 Mustang Coupe back in the late '80's. I loved that car. First car I ever did over 100 mph in and boy was it scary. Had a 351 Windsor engine with just a 2 barrel Autolite carb and 65k original miles. Conservatively rated at 250 hp. You always hear stories of guys buying cars from little, old ladies but this was the case with my Mustang. The woman who bought it originally was a school teacher in her 60's when she bought it. I asked her why she bought the car when she could have had one with less power. She said she liked the color.

Current pride and joy. 1989 Firebird Formula 305 T-Tops. Nothing special, but a cool car to cruise in none the less. 

In my short 7 years of driving I've owned a 89 Camaro I-Roc, 91 TransAm GTA, 90 Camaro RS, 1997 Eclipse GS-T (this one was the fastest. 320whp on the dyno) and now the 89 Formula. All have been amazing fun cars. 

I've got a Jeep GC for towing and a motorcycle for commuting in the summer. Gearhead for life!

Not exactly a 'car guy' - but I had a blast with this one.

Bought it new in 06 and babied her for 10 years.

Sold her to a collector with 15K 

I miss her a ton but she funded a good portion of my Lund.

So that helps me cope.

I was in high school and college...I've faded away from it now.  I still have my go-fast truck, although I am going to sell it eventually (it's technically for sale now, I'm just not trying very hard at it ;)).  92 GMC Typhoon.  13.2 in the 1/4 mile...Not the fastest in the world but with Turbo/AWD it would challenge and sometimes embarrass almost anything I'd normally run across stoplight to stoplight ;).  Was fun, but I realized I like fishing more and this was just taking time/money away from that.

Definitely a much better gearhead than fisherman, LOL!  I have been my whole life.  I had a steel Mustang pedal car when I was a kid and I used to borrow my dad's jack and jack it up and lay under it with dad's tools pretending I was fixing it.  My mom says that I came out of the womb on two wheels.  This is a pic of my Harley, the Jeep JK that I built for my wife to off road with, our 1985 Chevy C10, and my 1968 Mustang.  I've had the Mustang since I was 19 years old (I turn 49 next month).  It's one of seven Mustangs I have throughout my life.  I've got it torn down to the chassis to restore it. It's the last time I'll do that.  The next time it needs to be restored it will be my son's problem!

I guess you could say I have a thing for turbo cars. I had a dad who grew up with big blocks, and when I was a teenager. American cars were making less hp then the srt4 I had. Don't miss the srt4.

I miss my turbo eclipse every day, but man, what a basket case they start to be after you throw a few mods at them. Even going to a full turbo back exhaust is a nightmare of tuning and bigger injectors etc on most turbo cars. It was a great learning experience on the DSM but it was expensive and broke down often lol. Price of owning a "race car".

Thats how the SRT4 was. It was a pile of bs. Every single one of them had minor to major issues. Mine was it cost me 600 bucks a year to keep it running, and it was stock. A buddy bought it, and within 2 months the rear shocks gave out. Then the turbo only made 8lbs of boost. When it was making 15 or so for me.  He said maybe a boost leak. I told him if it was a few pounds less then factory. Not half.  I have plans for the STI, but it need to wait. If some thing happens to the "trusty" ej25 motor. Subaru will replacing it for now.

I had that phase until the speeding tickets finally caught up with me. :lol:

 

57 Chevy 

73 Formula 350 Firebird (blueprinted)

68 Charger 440 Magnum (my favorite) 

64 Ford Galaxie 390 Police Interceptor

I moved into more fun balanced with comfort.  My current commuter (I bought it when I was in Florida) is a first production 02 LEXUS SC430 Hardtop Convertible with a 4.3 V8.  One of the first off the line when they built them by hand before they got the factory tooled up.  I've put 200k on this little runner and it's a blast to drive.  I'll probably sell it when I retire next year and just drive my 16 High Country Silverado.

I came very close to buying a 05 when they first came out. 

I thought it would be cool to have one of each generation 40 yrs apart. 

 

But after careful consideration the sensible Mrs Mike prevailed, and I didn't want "Mr G" to feel ignored.

Yes I do.  :sad-021:  If I knew then what I know now, I would have never sold either one.  I watch Mecum and Barett Jackson waaaay too much......Who'd a thunk the 64 Ford would have jumped the way they did??  I used the Charger for street racing and it ate trannies like M&M's but it sure would haul the mail.  68 is a rare year to see anymore.  Midnight blue with a black vinyl top, white pin-striping and just a few motor mods.

Before I was born my parents had a '55 Chevy.  I about fell out of the chair when I saw a pic of it.  I asked them why they got rid of a classic and they said they wanted to get a new car before I was born.

 

During the first oil embargo of 1973, my Mom bought a two tone Nova with a 350 on sale from a Chevy dealer.  With the gas prices going up they couldn't move it, so my Mom got it for a good deal.  The only thing she didn't like was that it was manual instead of auto.  When I started driving I got that car. Drove it until I finished college, then sold it. 

 

About 6 years later my wife and I were eating at a place that hosts car shows in the summer.  We were walking around looking at the cars and there was my old Nova sitting there.  Talked to the new owner for about 15 or 20 minutes.  He had made some changes to it, but kept the paint the same.  I still miss that car.

That '64 Galaxie with the Very Rare "P" code was not Barney Fife's daily driver ??

I  test drove a couple of the 05's but wasn't really feeling the 5.7L - 

In 06 they dropped in the LS2 6.0L.

Seemed like a nice upgrade.

Glad I waited.

Don’t we all?  I had the opportunity to buy a matching numbers ‘69 Hurst Olds for $12,000 in 1991-ish.  I paid $2,500 each for the Monte & Skylark pictured above.....

I can’t complain.  I had some nice cars and will have another one in a few years.

Always loved cars and trucks but was never really a full blown gear head.

 

Two of my favorites didn't even have big motors.

 

1970 VW Karmann Ghia picked up in Atlanta, Georgia on our honeymoon from its original owner (she bought it new and drove it for 27 years); we drove it back to NH. Mostly original, including factory wooden steering wheel and shift knob. Enjoyed it for several years. Sold. Regret. Photo of beautiful wife with Ghia on the trip back to NH.

1967 Chevy C-10 with a three on the tree, 283 ci V8, manual choke, small rear window and wooden bed floor. Replaced those awful modern rims with the stock ones. Glad I bought it before the previous owner lowered it or something... Sold. Regret:

They're both gone but beautiful wife is still here 20+ years later :)
