So i casted on a baitcaster i bought from a friend, and when I casted it, line got caught between the spool and the actual reel itself. There’s a small visible gap in between the two. The reel is a LMA 200R. I had to cut the mono.

P.S. does me having mono on top of braid affect this?

Is the spool centered? Maybe line is jumping on the shoulder of the spool. Line should never see gap.

Braid shouldn't matter...

The spool can move side to side when your tension knob is backed off.

As you turn the knob in, the play in the spool will decrease as more pressure is applied.

Not sure if this is what you are experiencing.
