Like many, we have had a summer that seems hotter and more humid than normal. Thunder storms most evenings followed by more humid air the next day. However, we finally had a weather change ( even if only temporary). Right now the air is finally cool and dry, the windows are open, and the AC is off. But what really makes me think fall is on the way is our bird feeder. During the summer I fill it up about every ten days, but for the last week the birds have been going crazy on it, and I'm filling it up every three days. That's usually a sign fall is on it's way.

Anyone else starting to see signs like this?

Not in central Illinois.  We won't start seeing that until probably a couple/several weeks after Labor Day.  It's hot and humid and also humid with some more humidity.  Water temps in the mid-80s.  The birds won't even come out of the shade until dusk.  And neither will I.

Ask again in October

I'm already starting to see the geese flying away -

My Alaskan Malamutes have stopped blowing their under coats - which is a sure sign that the air temps will start to dip

And most importantly . . . .

These things are starting to show up with some regularity.

I honestly think the water is the warmest I've seen it all season.  So even though the calendar is inching towards September, the weather/climate is not.

Each year Im diligently watching for little hints of fall , since it is my fav. time of year.

August is our most humid month, and 2nd rainiest. Sometime in late august-early sept, there is a subtle change in the air. I think it is the slight temp. drop. If anyone works outside every day like me, you notice it. Around the 3-4th week of sept, the nights will start being noticeably cooler. I Love the first chill in the air !

Bass start biting much better, Sec football is back, and the grass doesnt grow as fast.

Cant wait !

@jbmaine The temperature at night is certainly cooler and Fall is on it's way.

Of course, I am not far from you so our weather is very similar.

Those big smallies will start to cruise the shores soon ..... :thumbsup1:

I haven't been able to fish in a while -- basically too tired from chemo (I get to the lake and fall asleep), but the temperature has dropped into the low 70s for the past several days. I'd estimate fall fishing tactics will apply in only a couple weeks from now.

Love...Love....Love the fall....can hardly wait.  On lake Cumberland this last weekend there was one day where while my son and I were running we looked at each other and went .....ohhhhhhh...there's a little nip in the air here.

The geese have not started their migration in the greater Richmond, Virginia area.

Leaves still on trees.

Squirrels are busy as usual.

Still have some baby Osprey in the nests and learning to fly.

The bass are going crazy and hitting anything you throw so they know something is afoot.

But give it time. Fall will arrive in Virginia by this October or November.

Then we get three-inches of snow and everyone drives to the grocery store and then into a ditch. :)
