Rod and Reel Advice Please

Hi guys, I'm would like to upgrade my cheap spinning  rod, I’m thinking of picking a all purpose spinning rod , I end up with duckett ghost 6ft 9 MH fast and fenwick hmg 7ft MH fast,need suggestions between these two rod please.

and for the reel question is that I need to replace my older baitcasting reels ,I was thinking  of the Shimano Curado dc but I heard a lot the people say they have brake issues , and I don’t some research on new lews bb1 speed spool, then I heard people say they are made for swim bait , anything reel thats under $250 would fit in my budget, any advice would be truly appreciated

Kinda confused by your question man.  Are you looking for a bait casting reel? spinning reel? Or a rod?

Im looking for a spinning rod and a baitcastin reel, both rod and reel are replacement for my older rod and reel, sorry for the confusion

For an all-purpose spinning rod, I would go M instead of MH.  I don't know anything about Duckett, but I like the Fenwick, and a medium hmg is on the powerful side anyway.  

 

I think the Lews BB2 is the one for big baits, and the BB1 is for more typical sizes no?  Lews makes too many different reels to keep track of.

Duckett casting? Anyhow I would recommend a medium for the spinning rod but both rods seem like good choices I love the ghost series of rods great rods! 

 And their are no problems with the brakes on the curado dc that I know of?

I done some research on the curado dc and a lot of they say the breaking system did not work

There is nothing on this video saying anything negative about the reel Having brake issues I’ve seen it before. 

Curado dc is a solid reel and voted best fresh water reel for 2018 for a good reason. The reel is not for everyone but to say that the brakes are defective is unreasonable. Probably not a good choice for swim baits however the k would be better suited for lighter swim baits also if you want to try lews that’s also a solid choice lews makes good reels.

 In this video I’m sure the guy is pointing out the learning curve with the dc brakes but there’s nothing saying that there’s anything wrong with them.

anyhow, what would you pick between the lews bb1 pro or curado k or curado dc or any daiwas for all purpose reels?

For most all around applications I would pick the k. For lighter applications the 70 if you’re gonna be doing a lot of skipping or flipping in pin point accurate spots I would pick the dc. The dc doesn’t brake at the initial point of enertia the brakes don’t kick in till the baits flinging threw the air so although it has a heavy spool when you initially cast the lure it’s on free spool which is what makes the dc brakes so freaking cool. Now for the dc you might want to wait before you buy it considering it is the first curado dc model and their could be some kinks to be worked out it’s up to you though. 

  Now the new tatula 100 is also a reel you might want to consider but it still hasn’t come out yet. But I don’t think that reel will be what you want if you’re going to be throwing swim baits. For swim baits you’re going to want a 200 or even 300 size spool a round reel would be optimal.

no swim baits, just jigs or texas rigs most of the time, sometimes frog,but rarely.

Tatula with the SV spool.  The SV spool is amazing.  An "Air Brake" of sorts.  I own several along with some Lew's and *** reels. The Tatula with the SV spool will BOMB lighter baits almost as well as spinning gear.  Also, if you're fishing deeper the spool will automatically feed out additional line after lure touchdown. No need to pull out extra line.  Truly a work of art for less than $200, IMO.
